I'm really liking this at the mo. It's quite a strong, masculine name.

I didn't have a clue as to how popular it was so had a look at the latest stats and I'm quite surprised that it isn't more popular. It's # 536 for 2010 with 64 boys being names this.

I honestly thought it would be more popular. Am I missing something? I know we all have different taste, but is it really not as nice as I think?

My other top contender is Sebastian. I also like Tobias, Phineas and Hugo.

Any opinions?

I love them all except Phineas due to my 9 year old watching the awful cartoon Phineas & Ferb. Tobias, Hugo, and Sebastian were on my list for DS2 (Felix). Conrad had never occurred to me tbh. It is very strong and has a positive connection (in my mind) to the author.

girliefriend · 12/08/2011 19:46

quite like it...... don't like any of your other choices though - sorry!

I like Conrad. I also like Hugo but not so keen on Phineas.

Wetnwild · 12/08/2011 20:00

Don't like it at all.

InstantAtom · 12/08/2011 20:09

I don't think of Conrad as a strong name, sorry. It sounds quite wet to me.

Sebastian is the best of the rest IMHO.

MelinaM · 12/08/2011 20:25

I think Conrad Hilton, it sounds very 'American' to me, not a fan!

Love Sebastian and PhineasSmile Tobias is okay, but I abhor the nn Toby, Hugo is nice.

Pippaandpolly · 12/08/2011 20:33

It's a lovely name - I associate it with Joseph Conrad but it works really well as a first name in its own right.

brodanbell · 12/08/2011 20:50

I know an adult Conrad who is fantastic, so have always had positive vibes about the name. I do recall thinking it was very 'unusual' when we first met, but quickly got over it - it's the only name i can imagine him being called. I do think of it as a strong name.

Ivortheengine8 · 12/08/2011 21:25

Much prefer Tobias to the others. Conrad I don't like at all.

lolajane2009 · 12/08/2011 21:41

I like it but because I think Conrad Coleby and then I think... mmmm

popsicle1984 · 12/08/2011 21:48

I like the fact that it's unusual, I have a friend who recently named her son Konrad, definitely prefer the C spelling!

Jill72 · 12/08/2011 22:17

My dads name - lovely -

LottieBronte · 12/08/2011 22:31

Pleased Conrad is having some positive feedback.

Thanks for the opinions so far. Will show DH. He's almost on board with it :-)

Definitely a strong name! I can't imagine a weedy little man called Conrad!
Love it!!

Sophiesmummie · 13/08/2011 12:25

Conrad is lovely and much nicer and less overused than Toby (Tobias), Seb (Sebastian) and Finn (Phineas).

You should be pleased that it was only used 64 times last year Smile. Do you want to give your son a name that is already used by thousands others?

flissyfloss · 13/08/2011 20:11

Conrad, Hugo and Sebastian are all good. I like Sebastian for my baby to be - but smarmy Tory Seb Coe has always put me off. I've got a Felix.

mathanxiety · 14/08/2011 06:51

Conrad is a fabulous name imo.

I like Tobias and Hugo from your list too, but Conrad is way out ahead.

Rhubarbgarden · 14/08/2011 18:49

I love Conrad. It's my second favourite boys name.
