Bee/Bea short for...

I like the name Bee/Bea, but don't like Beatrix or Beatrice. Any other ideas what it can be short for? Could it work on its own without being short for anything?

Betsy or Elizabeth. It's only the letter 'B' so could be used for any B name

Cattleprod · 11/08/2011 11:08

Phoebe
Abbie
Any name beginning with B

NattersAndMutters · 11/08/2011 11:14

Belinda

culturevulture · 11/08/2011 11:15

White not just use Bea?

culturevulture · 11/08/2011 11:15

Sorry why not?

Bandwithering · 11/08/2011 11:23

I really like Beata.

BUT there is a relidgy vibe to it obviously. Still nice though.

Bandwithering · 11/08/2011 11:23

I love Belinda.

Unlurked · 11/08/2011 11:24

My dd1 is Phoebe and I call her Bee. She called herself Beebee for ages too!

Bandwithering · 11/08/2011 11:27

love the name Phoebe!

LadyShapes · 11/08/2011 11:28

We could just go for Bea, but I'm not sure if DH would be on board. We both really like Elizabeth, so maybe that for Sunday best with Bee for everyday.

we have a bethan known as bee

NattersAndMutters · 11/08/2011 11:39

No, not just 'Bea', let her have a name that gives her some options.

Yes, Belinda is nice. Uncommon but not eyebrow-raising! I've only ever met two, and one of those was always called Linda: in fact it was only after she'd died that most people found out her full name was Belinda ...

My immediate thought was Beulah (byoo-la). No idea why I thought of that first, but no one else has said it so I've added it.

I agree though that beacuse Bea is the sound the letter B makes then really any B name would lend to Bea as a shortening.

raspberrytart · 11/08/2011 13:32

i know a Bea, short for Brooke.

jenniec79 · 11/08/2011 19:47

Beatrice/Beatrix
Anything with Betty connotations
Beattie (although I think that's also a nn for Beatrice)

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 11/08/2011 20:11

I know an Abigail and a Phoebe who call themselves Bee.

Thistledew · 11/08/2011 20:17

Bridget? I know one who shortens to Bea/Bee/B.

InstantAtom · 11/08/2011 20:47

It's only short for Beatrice/Beatrix as far as I know.

BibiBelle · 11/08/2011 20:50

Hebe

MayDayChild · 11/08/2011 21:05

I love Beatrice. I had a boy! He's Edwin but nn Eddy.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 12/08/2011 13:59

You can have Bea on it's own. My dd1's name is Sadie Bea.
