When you hear Kit do you think of Christopher?

I hadn't occured to me before I read this board, but it looks like Kit's a short form of Christopher. DP has a Christopher/Chris already.

Will anyone notice do you think?

(Please say no, please say no, please say no.... Oh Okay, just hit me with it)

To be clear, I don't have a son called Christopher. Chris (Christopher) is one of my partners sons from a previous relationship. Chris is a fully grown adult man, so there is zero possibility of me ever finding myself saying "Christopher, Kit pick up your toys it's time to go".

Still though, it does seem it's only one step less blatent than having a Lauren and a Laura. Bugger. It's off the list.

Yep, I would assume anyone male called Kit was actually as Christopher. Kit is a longstanding nn for Christopher.

This will sound awful but I think people would assume you didn't consider your stepson as one of your own tbh. Kit is a well-known nn for Christopher (obviously not known by all, but many) & you'd be unlikely call two of your own biological kids derivatives of the same name. I had to rule out lots of names because they sounded wrong alongside my stepson's name (which is Jack, ruling out my faves Jacob & Zachery) so I sympathise as I didn't choose my DSS's name but was a bit constrained by it. But to pick something that sounded odd along side Jack would be like sending a message that the name I was picking was more important to me than Jack. Likewise Jack has a half-sister Molly by a different dad so DD as she transpired to be could not be my first choice of Mary (after my mum) because Molly is a derivative of Mary & it would therefore sound silly to sone when Jack had to say "I have two sisters, Molly & Mary." Just pick another name, I really do know how attached you get to favoured names of babes-to-be, but your kids who are already around must come first.

I sympathise though as Kit is a lovely name Smile
