Ok, following on from the gutting news that my current face girls name Vita is about to become a Play Station console :-() what do you think of...

Petra?
Zara?
Kiki?

Be honest, I can take it!

kiki
zara
petra

Wink

Petra is probably the best looking though, even if all the Petra I know are 50/60 yo german.

pilates · 04/08/2011 18:54

Def Zara

InstantAtom · 04/08/2011 18:56

Petra was a band as well.

ensure · 04/08/2011 21:42

Vita is lovely, what a shame about the console! I think I like Petra from your new names.

33goingon64 · 04/08/2011 21:52

Stick with Vita. Who cares if it's a games console? It's much the best name of the four.

CaptainNancy · 04/08/2011 22:26

Zara is a little tainted this year due to royal wedding.

Vita is still lovely.
Verity?
Nina?

Kiki seems a little too cutesy, and non-British (though this may be perfectly apt!)
Petra is nice, but sadly a dog's name for me...

LittlePushka · 04/08/2011 22:54

Petra Fied - no

kiki - definitely a frogs name, has no gravitas at all.

Zara - really lovely - not "tainted" at all, (how very odd!) but not Zarah.

birdofthenorth · 04/08/2011 23:15

Thanks all! Does no-one think the high street chain is a problem with Zara?!

OP posts:
LittlePushka · 04/08/2011 23:56

Nope - tis a beautiful name for little girl and old lady and everything in between. It will endure well beyond the chain, undoubtedly.

Rhubarbgarden · 05/08/2011 07:39

Kiki will always be the Enid Blyton parrot to me too. It was in the Island of Adventure book series - god I loved those books. Petra is lovely though, and I like Zara too. I agree you shouldn't worry about the playstation thing - nobody bothers with games consoles anymore now you can get such cheap games on phones. Playstations have had their day, you are safe with Vita (which is a great name).

Suncottage · 05/08/2011 09:36

Petra was also the telepathic child in John Wyndham's book The Chrysalids.

Just thought I'd mention it Smile

EyeoftheStorm · 05/08/2011 13:02

I have been known to buy my DD (5) a top from Zara with its logo emblazoned in gold sequins Blush. Weird because I'm not that into slogans and such like. It's like a private joke between us - she loves it.

mistressploppy · 05/08/2011 13:17

Petra is a lovely name. I went there in February and it blew me away - incredible place.

Ephiny · 05/08/2011 13:18

I like Zara a lot, that would be my choice. Petra is OK but not very pretty or inspiring somehow, and Kiki just sounds like a nickname or a pet's name to me!

Vita is nice. I have absolutely no awareness of games consoles etc so that wouldn't put me off. My first association would be Vita Sackville-West actually!

carabos · 05/08/2011 18:05

Love Kiki, Vita is nice, not keen on Petra (Blue Peter pet....)

umiaisha · 05/08/2011 22:18

I quite like Petra, but love Pepita which is the name of one of my very best friends and kind of similar. Think it is spanish??

IssyStark · 05/08/2011 22:23

Zara, good enough for HM's grand-daughter then it's good enough for the rest of us Smile

Like Petra as well. There's also Petrina but that might be too many syllables for you.

Not so sure aout Kiki - reminds of me of Kiki Dee and also might not age well with your daughter.

SaffronCake · 06/08/2011 09:08

Petra would grow on me
Zara will always be a shop which sells flimsy jumpers
Kiki is, er, kooki

hokeycakey · 06/08/2011 12:27

Like Kiki and Petra had a boss called this but nn was petzi which was nice! Like Zara but Phillips puts me off. LOVE vita though I might steal it :)

CollieandPup · 06/08/2011 15:45

Zara is nice, not too keen on Petra. Like Kiki a lot but maybe more as a nickname-could something be shortened to this? (not sure what though)

BehindLockNumberNine · 06/08/2011 15:55

My name is Petra. In Holland (where I am from) and Germany (where I spent part of my youth) it is pronounced Paytra (sorry Rachel, long e sound is eeee as in eek and that is not how it is said)

I like my name. It is not pretty or flowery or girly but tbh neither am I. There are not many of us around and the name is due a bit of a revival! Smile

Catsycat · 06/08/2011 23:05

I have a Zara (and a Zena). Zara is obviously a lovely name!

fluffygal · 06/08/2011 23:11

I vote for Zara. I have a Zanna (pronounced like Hannah) and have noticed I really like all names beginning with 'Z'!

Catsycat · 07/08/2011 21:27

Me too flufflygal. We obviously have great taste!!!

babycham42 · 07/08/2011 21:30

Love Kiki!
