Theodore (Theo)

Just wondering if you have a Theo what silly nicknames you end up calling him. My other children have names that lend themselves to a bit of adaptation eg. Emma becomes Emsy etc.

Not quite sure where we'd go with Theo and don't want him to be the only one who is always 'full named' but do love the name.

Blimey naming boys is tricky!

Surely Theodore is his full name? Grin

I love Theo! But half my family pronounce TH as F so that was a no go for us.

In US, he'd probably be Teddy (like Roosveldt).

hester · 04/08/2011 07:59

I think Theodore gets shortened to Theo and Ted mainly.

MrsChemist · 04/08/2011 08:08

Mostly people just call him Theo. A few call him Teddy, one calls him Thee (a little bit irritating but it's just one person)

rachel234 · 04/08/2011 11:47

Isn't Theo a nickname already? I's assume his full names was Theodore. Why on earth would you shorten Theo... perhaps The Hmm?

chaya5738 · 04/08/2011 13:19

Agree with Rachel234.

Why would you shorten Theo? It is already a nickname.

I love Theodore shortened to Theo or Teddy.

weddingseason · 04/08/2011 13:46

It's not really trying to shorten it just my other children have kind of 'silly' versions of their name that get used within the family (think Madeleine - Madders etc.) and I don't want him to be the only one that doesn't. Really not a big deal was just interested to know if anyone else's Theos had evolved into anything else.

Love the name Theo..would have been dd2's name if she'd been a ds! Love Theo and Teddy and have also heard of a boy whose nn is 'T' (or maybe that's 'Tee') as an alternative nn that might fit into your family?!

Loads around these parts.
