river and sky. awful

Ragwort · 28/07/2011 17:20

No, but I knew an Ocean (spelt differently) and it caused constant sniggering and difficulties in pronounciation from everyone.

seeker · 28/07/2011 17:21

No. but I know horses, dogs, cats and a rabbit with all of those names except Farley. The Farley I know is a rusk.

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 17:22

was the ocean spelt oisin?

that's an irish name.

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 17:23

with an accetn - like this : Oisín

Quenelle · 28/07/2011 17:24

I know a girl called Eden. And a girl with Skye as a middle name.

nappyaddict · 28/07/2011 17:24

lavender and febreeze Were they boys or girls?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 28/07/2011 17:25

I tik Lavender is a girls name and Febreeze could, at a pinch, be unisex

[chortle]

M44 · 28/07/2011 17:26

Yes, nickel - although the child/family were not Irish. I know I sound mean but no one could remember how to pronounce his name correctly and it got really embarrassing Blush.

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 17:37

unusual irish names are tricky, aren't they.

i have a ds with a irish name and get fed up telling people how to say/spell it .So think carefully on names with differnt pronuciation

cloudydays · 28/07/2011 18:04

Angel is a pretty popular boys' name in Latino communities in the States. I knew a few Angels growing up, and I like the name.

Oisín is not "Ocean spelled differently"! It means "little deer" and is pronounced "Uh-SHEEN".

I can see how it could be misinterpreted as an attempt to spell "Ocean" yooneekly, but it is certainly not that, so any sniggering is grounded firmly in ignorance.

bagelmonkey · 28/07/2011 18:09

I know a girl called Eden and one called Bracken.

reikizen · 28/07/2011 18:11

I know a boy called Eden.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/07/2011 18:11

I know a couple of Oisíns if you're counting that but none of the others.

Marne · 28/07/2011 18:15

I know a Angel (he wasn't always Angel, he changed his name), i know a River but a girl.

lovecorrie · 28/07/2011 18:16
