Pronounced Day-na and for a boy.
What do you think? DP not at all keen, thinks it's a girls name.

It does sound like a girls' name, and on first glance Diana.

How about Dane?

moonwitch · 25/07/2011 12:41

Hi, my husband is called Dane and we named our daughter Dayna after him. She's almost 15 now and still loves it, we've never met another Dayna but I obviously think it's a girl's name.
Good luck.

EdithWeston · 25/07/2011 12:43

I agree with your DP.

I think you will find that it will be taken as the girls name Dana (Da-na), like the singer (and also the transexual Dana International, whose name was an homage to that singer).

sunchild77 · 25/07/2011 12:46

Ive know a Dana - pronounced "Day-na" and another pronounced "Dan-a"

They are both girls.

Its a girls name - eg Dana Scully

I have a lovely female friend whose name is pronounced day-na but written Dana

HengshanRoad · 25/07/2011 13:40

I know a guy called Dana, and he hates his name.

MelinaM · 25/07/2011 16:43

It does sound too much alike the female Dana.

PaperBank · 25/07/2011 19:02

I think of the female singer Dana.

belgo · 25/07/2011 19:03

I only know a female Dana.

belgo · 25/07/2011 19:04

What about Dan or Daniel?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 25/07/2011 19:05

Was going to say I liked it but then saw you meant for a boy so no. Lovely for a girl as long as it's pronounced Dayna and not Dahna like the singer!
