A middle name for Lila

I have (almost) convinced DP on Lila if we have a girl but am struggling with middle names. He likes Amelia and Isabel which are both nice names, but I think they sound a bit odd with Lila - the way the names would run together you would pronounce an 'r' sound between them if you see what I mean?
Or are they fine really and I am overthinking this?
I really want DP to pick the middle name as I have sort of pushed him into choosing Lila for the first name! Any other suggestions for similar sounding names which he might like?

Rose sounds nice with Lila.

I think Isabel sounds ok.

You do not often pronounce the whole full name as one, more written, so I dont think you need to worry about it too much!

Lila Grace

Lila Florence

The thing is to avoid names starting with a vowel, really!

Kate Moss has a daughter called Lila Grace. I was thinking Lila Florence was nice too prudaloo.

I agree with you OP that a middle name starting with a vowel would "run together" with the first name. Also a middle name starting with C would give you a "lilac" sound.

How about

Lila Marianne
Lila Bethany
Lila Victoria
Lila Harriet
Lila May
Lila Jasmine
Lila Serena
Lila Rebecca
Lila Xanthe
Lila Miranda
Lila Felicity
Lila Josephine
Lila Jennifer

I like some of the names on your list paperbank, will show it to DP and see what he thinks.
As I am typing this he has just made the comment that Lila is 'a bit american' so thinking about middle names might be pointless anyway! I thought I had brought him round but it appears not.

marie? or is that to 'waltons'?

pixiestix · 24/07/2011 23:13

Lila is lovely!

I was thinking a one syllable name like Jane or Grace but some of Papers three syllable names are lovely - Josephine, Rebecca, Florence are all great.

pixiestix · 24/07/2011 23:13

Florence isn't three syllables...

lilaloves · 25/07/2011 09:01

Lila Eve
Lila Kate
Lila Francesca
Lila Grace is quite popular due to the kate Moss link I think.

DP likes Lila Bethany so we may have a winner!
He is still wavering over Lila though but has not really come up with much else - is it mean of me to push this name on him? He is agreeing to the name but only because he prefers it to the other names I chose. Not really sure what to do now, except hope for a boy!

My DD1's middle name is Lila! Great choice! :)

pilates · 25/07/2011 20:33

Agree with you, I think a longer middle name

Lila Elizabeth
Lila Evangeline
Lila Emmeline
Lila Constance
Lila Madeline

lolalotta · 25/07/2011 20:54

My little girl is called Lyla :) we love it!

iceandsliceplease · 30/07/2011 01:27

DD is Delilah, but we sometimes call her Lila! I think a longer middle name would balance it out - Bethany is very nice.

DP was crap when it came to names too. I listed about 400 every day for both kids and he was negative about almost all of them. When he said 'it's ok, I suppose...' I knew we had a winner. I'm still peeved that he wouldn't allow Serena in any way for DD.

VikingLady · 01/08/2011 15:44

How about Lila Jane?

OohThatsMyTractor · 01/08/2011 15:46

My first thought was Rose sounds lovely with Lila, ie Lila Rose, and I see I am not the only one who thinks it sounds lovely together!

toothlessthenightfury · 01/08/2011 17:38
