They are all bible names-so i would like to keep to that- but i don't mind if it's traditional.

My short list is:

Girls-
Elizabeth
Eve
Hannah
Rose

Boys-
Eli
Issac
Jobe
Joseph
Nathaniel
Noah
Tobias

Unfortunately dp not overly keen on some of them, so any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I really like Eve and Naomi for a girl, and Noah, Luke and Peter for a boy.

PotterWatch · 20/07/2011 19:42

Joshua, Benjamin, Harry

Amelia, Arabella, Esme,

PotterWatch · 20/07/2011 19:42

Oh and I LOVE Elizabeth, DH wouldn't hear of it unfortunately.

wearymum200 · 20/07/2011 19:44

Claudia, lydia, esther
Benjamin, jonah, david

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 20/07/2011 19:48

Benedict

Rebecca

sassy34264 · 20/07/2011 20:43

Timetosmile I really like Naomi too, but it rhymes with the surname. I'm Sarah. Others i like in your list are- Adam but its dp's best friend. Samuel but it's a friends son and Thomas.
potter I really like Arabella as my favourite name choice would be Annabel and it's very similiar but I thought it would be a bit twee with Isobel. Is Annabella or Arabella not the same? I would never have thought of Esme, but i really like it. Will run it past DP.
Weary I have ummed and ahed over Claudia and Lydia but just don't like them enough.
Sorry sausage I don't like Benedict and although Rebecca is ok, I really don't like becky.

Tobias! Tobys a lovely name Wink I like Reuben, Isaac & Eli too

Love Eve, Evie, Ava

feckwit · 20/07/2011 21:06

I have a Chloe and a Jacob and also an Isaac and a Matilda.

sassy34264 · 20/07/2011 21:18

I'm loving Esme , but just made the mistake of trying to look into it and it's a character's name in Twillight! I only found out that Jacob and Isobel are two main characters in it after we had named them -as I have never seen it.Fortunately no-one under 21 seems to know! Would you still go with it?

Oh I love it so much, I just know DP will hate it.

Before reading your list I immediately thought Isaac. Sounds right.

Maybe Rebecca? Oh I like Martha, I think that goes well.

sassy34264 · 20/07/2011 21:25

banana Grin
DP has vetoed Eli and Issac, but i don't think I have run Tobias past him yet. Although you know I haven't given up on Nathaniel yet.

Dixiebell · 20/07/2011 21:46

I love Esme too. If dp not keen, what about similar sounding like Emily, Ellie, Elsie? Love Evie too, but lots around at the mo!

Dixiebell · 20/07/2011 21:50

Oh and if it were me the twilight thing wouldn't bother me - never seen it myself, but nobody will think of it in a few years anyway.

pickledsiblings · 20/07/2011 21:57

Chloe is biblical? Gosh, I didn't know that. I immediately thought of the name Lousia when I read the names of your DC, is that biblical Confused?

grubbalo · 20/07/2011 22:00

just incase you do persuade your husband - it is IsAAc not Issac (I have one and it is a particular annoyance of mine!)

I like your other names though, similar taste!

sassy34264 · 20/07/2011 22:14

grubbalo sorry! So not like me, as i like everything spelt the original way. I will definately pay attention next time. Smile

I'm not sure if Louisa is biblical pickledsiblings but i would class it in with Claudia, Lydia etc, a nice name but not one that i really love. Smile

Thanks dixie you're right, no-one in my immediate circle has seen it anyway.

I love love love Tobias also really like eve for a girl. My friend has a little girl called yvie!

manicinsomniac · 20/07/2011 22:34

From your list I'd choose Hannah and Noah with Isaac as a close runner up. Think both of them are lovely and sound good with your other names.

Girls-
Elizabeth - Not keen really. Like some of the nicknames but find it rather staid and boring .
Eve - Again, not keen. Like Eva though
Hannah -Love it.
Rose - Quite nice. Prefer Rosie

Boys-
Eli - Sounds a bit old mannish
Isaac - Love it.
Jobe - I'd be scared of raising a miserable, pessimistic type child!
Joseph - Like it.
Nathaniel - Love it.
Noah - Love it.
Tobias - Like it, especiall Toby.

For girls I might also consider Rebekah, Martha, Lydia or Miriam
For boys I think you've got the best ones covered.

Also had no idea Chloe was in the Bible!

grubbalo · 21/07/2011 13:32

Sassy - sorry I have just reread my message and it sounded very grumpy! I do love the names you've suggested, good luck in choosing!

Bumpsadaisie · 21/07/2011 13:46

Phoebe or Thomas ?

Bumpsadaisie · 21/07/2011 13:47

Ezra for a boy?

sassy34264 · 17/10/2011 23:16

ok. so i have a c section this friday! eek.

dp and i have finally agreed on a boys name - Isaac......yeah!!! he says it has grown on him, but i think the fact that everyone in rl loves it, has helped.

we are none the closer on a girls name though.

Lydia is growing on me. my favourites are Esme, Emme, Emerline, but he hates them.

Any new suggestions? still interested in bible/traditional/classic names.

thanks

PootlePosyPumpkin · 18/10/2011 14:40

How would you pronounce Emme? What about the more traditional Emma or Emily - would they appeal more to your DP?

Joanna maybe? I'm pretty sure that's in the bible somewhere Smile. Personally, I really don't like Lydia - sounds a bit "hard".

sassy34264 · 18/10/2011 15:41

pootle i would prounounce it like emm a but with an e- emm e. if that makes sense. it's all academic though because he won't budge. i was up for hours last night looking on the name threads and name websites.
i've sent him- Etta, Saffie, Alice, Lydia but he says no and text back Oliva!
He obviously doesnt know it's been the top name for the past few years.
We have got beyond bible names now......i really hope this is a boy, it will be easier.
Sorry, i dont like Emma, Emily or Joanna.
