After much deliberation, this is what I think is my final shortlist for a girl in order of preference (don't know what we're having but instinct tells me it's a girl so prioritised this first):

Calypso
Lyra
Sorrel
Bronte
Indigo
Angeline
Laurel
Meryl
Aurora
Beatrix

This is to go with Etienne Maya so we need two names from this list ideally. Any comments welcome to help me cull the list down as I don't think this baby will come out until we have a name for it.

TIA!!

Indigo - OK
Angeline - quite like, also like Angela and Angelica
Laurel - like
Meryl - like
Aurora - like

MelinaM · 18/07/2011 21:20

Thanks for all the replies. Now just got to convince DP who only likes about 3 of these names!! Working on it!

I only like Sorrell of those names.

Mumbrane · 19/07/2011 21:13

Aurora is lovely.

I could be persuaded that Angeline and Beatrix are nice.

The others are ghastly. Calypso is absolutely foul, sorry.

Aurora and Etienne - nice combo.

reastie · 19/07/2011 21:15

I read lyra as lycra, sorry. I like laurel, bronte and meryl Grin

birdofthenorth · 20/07/2011 01:08

Indigo Bronte or Indigo Beatrice. Love Indigo! Think it works well with Etienne too

Tillylove · 20/07/2011 07:46

I adore Indigo Beatrix! Fab name!

Domesticbodess · 20/07/2011 08:52

Angeline is pretty as the first name and lots of the others fit as middles.

SunnilyEnough · 20/07/2011 09:07

Calypso - awful. Soft drink, as others have said.
Lyra - lycra
Sorrel - lovely, though maybe a bit too close to sorry/sorrow.
Bronte - as middle name
Indigo - awful. tie-dye.
Angeline - terrible. 70s/80s Angie/Maureen type name.
Laurel - lovely
Meryl - not keen
Aurora - awful
Beatrix - prefer Beatrice, Beatrix is a bit dominatrix for me.

I would go for Sorrel or Laurel with Beatrix (or Beatrice) or Bronte as the middle name.

Ephiny · 20/07/2011 10:42

Oh dear, I'm not too keen on most of those to be honest. Laurel is nice (though would go for Lauren personally), Angeline is OK (and fits well with Etienne), but I really don't like the others at all.

minicorrect · 04/08/2011 11:32

Well DD2 was born on Tuesday and despite agreeing on Indigo Lyla she really didn't suit it so is now Sorrel Lyla. Your comments were very helpful and probably stopped me going too out there. Have already had a sorry comment from my sister but still happy with the name so will ignore her! Just not sure what nn to use - I like Lolli, DP suggested Sol or Solly.
