Lila or Mia?

My DH & I can't agree on a name and we don't have much time left now!

Mia Rose Elodie
Or
Lila Rose Elodie

I absolutely love Mia but I noticed it is no.11 in the charts for 2010 - and I don't want every other kid to have the same name as mine. Is it becoming ubiquitous?

I love Lila, definitely my favourite, and I definitely know of more baby Mias.

brodanbell · 14/07/2011 16:20

Mia - like Mimi for a nickname. Also think that whether you use Mia or Lila, that switching the Rose and Elodie around, trips off the tongue better.

PaperBank · 14/07/2011 16:46

Mia

plonker · 14/07/2011 16:51

Mia

I also agree that Elodie Rose sounds better.

Mia Elodie Rose. Beautiful.

biscuitbrown · 14/07/2011 19:48

Ooh I LIKE that - thank you very much. Elodie Rose does work better Grin

I like Elodie Rose as a name in its own right (ie without the Mia or Lila!). Is there any reason you've decided not to go with Elodie as the first name?

biscuitbrown · 14/07/2011 20:12

No reason, other than we have no French connections, but I don't think that probably matters. Hmmm, haven't narrowed it down, now have three to choose from! Thank you though for positive feedback.

I know loads of Mias, I do like it but there are lots of under tens called Mia.
How about Eva, or Elodie Buttercup? Elodie Fae, Eva Butterfly, Iam ahippy.com xx

mo3d · 14/07/2011 20:20

How about taking the M from Mia and putting it infront of elodie.
Melodie Rose. I think that's beautiful! Smile
Sorry for chopping up your names Wink

Lila Mae was our choice for a girl - we had DS though! I know loads of Mias but no Lilas. Elodie is lovely too.

Noleen · 15/07/2011 08:40

Whatabout Lia? If not, then I prefer Lila.

biscuitbrown · 15/07/2011 13:09

Thank you all - am being hopeless at making up my mind, keep thinking whatever I choose I'll end wishing I'd chosen something else! I think the problem is I wanted an Emilia Rose ever since I was a little girl & some close friends called their daughter exactly that last year! (Unintentionally) So nothing will match up!

I think Mia is a much nicer name, although probably more popular. Surely choosing a name you love is more important than popularity though?

biscuitbrown · 15/07/2011 13:53

It is more important you are right, but I grew up with an unusual name & was always secretly pleased as a child to be the only one in my school, so I don't want to pick a name if there are going to be 5 others in the same class.

MummyCubed · 19/07/2011 17:15

I'd go with Mia, personally.

mathanxiety · 19/07/2011 17:49

Lila.

I find Mia a little insipid.

Ephiny · 19/07/2011 17:57

I like Lila better (Leila is even nicer in my opinion) - I think both are fairly popular at the moment though.

Wafflenose · 19/07/2011 19:53

Lila Elodie Rose? It sounds great and is a bit different. Also love Elodie for an unusual first name. Not so keen on Mia.

SheCutOffTheirTails · 19/07/2011 19:59

Lila over Mia

Mumbrane · 19/07/2011 21:11

Mia. Lila is a bit of a 'fashiony' name imho.

Leila is better.

zenoushka · 20/07/2011 10:44

I prefer Lila over Mia. Have also come across ALOT of Mia's under the age of 10. Lila is lovely.

Mollydoggerson · 20/07/2011 23:15

LILA IS LOVELY.
