Which middle name to go with alice?
I have 3 choices
alice vera
alice Florence
alice philippa

vera is the least pretty sounding but has the most meaning behind it. It's my fabulous nans name and I'd love to name the baby after her

Florence is quite pretty with alice and also has some meaning as dh and I were married on Florence and it's our favourite place

philippa is the nicest sounding imo! But has no special meaning, apart from the fact that it's my favourite name and dh vetoed due to ms Middleton as a first name!

So choices are between pretty sounding middle name or sentimental reasons? Which will I choose??

i would go with the one which means the most- Alice Vera...(although also like Vera Alice...)

I think all 3 sound pretty.

Alice Vera - "fits" nicely, personally not a fan of Vera but you have a lovely reason to choose it :)
Alice Florence - I like Florence but the combination is too much "s", sounds a bit awkward
Alice Philippa - like

Alice Vera - Alice Florence is too assonant and I'm not a fan of Philippa.

We chose DD's middle name (or rather DH did when I was in a bit of a state) because it tripped off the tongue well with her first name and we couldn't agree on anything else. I think it's a bit twee now and wish we'd either not given her a middle name or given her a variation of my Mum's name.

I think a middle name is a good way to use a sentimental name that you're not massively keen on in itself IYSWIM.

Go with Vera, it is great and you may regret it otherwise because of your nan.

Alice Florence is lovely, not a fan of Phillipa I'm afraid!

If the pretty sound concerns you how about using an variation of Vera:

Verena / Verina

Verene

Veira

Theres also the option of using the meaning of Vera - Faith. Alice Faith Smile

...a variation!!!
