Not keen personally, but it's a perfectly good name and I wouldn't say it's dull.

Zwitterion · 11/07/2011 23:05

Love Claudia. And Claude for that matter.

EskimoPie · 11/07/2011 23:13

Love it. Also love Claudine, for some reason: have never known one though.

LynetteScavo · 11/07/2011 23:14

Was very nearly DD's name, but the meaning put me off.

Tobermory · 11/07/2011 23:23

Exactly what lynetteScavo said.
My DD2 was very nearly a claudia too.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 12/07/2011 07:10

I like it and know two lovely Claudia's. Not keen on Claude though.

EveryonesJealousOfWeasleys · 12/07/2011 07:24

I know a lovely one but she is half German and it is pronounced as Cloudia, nn Cloudy which I really like

bagelmonkey · 12/07/2011 07:29

My SIL is called Claudine, which I think is nicer than Claudia. Her name is occasionally shortened to Dina.

Rhubarbgarden · 12/07/2011 07:30

I like it.

pommedechocolat · 12/07/2011 08:50

Like it very much. A friend has a Claudia otherwise I would consider it.

Hedwig3 · 12/07/2011 09:23

Really like it.

LetThereBeRock · 12/07/2011 10:29

Claudia's beautiful, and not at all dull.

hellsbells4 · 12/07/2011 10:36

I like it - and also claudette.

sonniebonnie · 12/07/2011 10:40

The meaning would put me off (Latin for lame/disabled).

Sinople · 12/07/2011 10:44

Nice name, unfortunate meaning :-/

evamummy · 12/07/2011 10:48

Anyone who's ever studied latin will probably find it hard not to think of disabled/lame when hearing Claudia or Claudio. Shame as the name has a nice sound otherwise.

brodanbell · 12/07/2011 13:31

one of my favourites and I will use it for a girl. I'm ignoring the meaning!

hulabula · 12/07/2011 14:39

I like it pronounced the German way (Clowd-eea). But I think the meaning would put me off, unfortunately.

IvyAndGold · 12/07/2011 14:53

i like it! what's the meaning of it though? is it really so bad it'd put you off it...?

hulabula · 12/07/2011 15:18

The Latin adjective Claudus means disabled/crippled, so not a very nice association unfortunately.

BertieBasset · 12/07/2011 19:48

I have one! Everyone loves it - although she is tiny and I am still hormonal so they would be mad to tell me they didn't Smile

I don't know any others either.

bagelmonkey · 12/07/2011 21:28

Do people really care about the meaning of names? I have no idea what my name means. Maybe I should get one of those crappy bookmarks they sell on all the gift shops with different names on.

pommedechocolat · 12/07/2011 22:44

The Italians use claudio as a name a lot though so I think it would be silly to dismiss it on the Latin basis.
