Hi all, I'm 32 weeks and we don't know if we are having a boy or a girl but struggling a bit with names for both! Any feedback on our ideas or suggestions would be nice. We don't like names which are too unusual but also don't want there to be hundreds of kids with the same name as they are growing up...

Girls:
(Middle name will probably be Isobel or Clara)

  • Tess
  • Eve
  • Amelia (too popular?)
  • Asha

Boys:
(middle name will probably be Daniel, or maybe Connor or Robert)

  • Ewen/Euan
  • Reuben
  • Evan

WDYT? x

Amelia and Eve are both v popular I think. I'm not sure how popular Tess is and personally I would prefer it with a longer version Tessa or Teresa. I love Asha, I think its a biblical name or has some biblical meaning but I'm not sure. Asha Isobel sounds great imo.

Not sure how popular your boys names are. I think that Evan is less popular than the other two but I'm not that keen on it. Reuben Daniel sounds good as does Euan Robert.

I don't really like any of your suggestions... but if I had to pick one I'd choose Asha as it is the least overused and has a lovely meaning.

Another vote here for Asha, though also like Tess. Of the boys names I like Reuben best.

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/07/2011 10:56

I love Tess. Amelia (or other names which end up with Milly as a nn) is too popular. Eve is ok. Asha is not my taste.

Really love all of your boys names. DH is Ewen. Evan is slightly more unusual. Reuben is a great name but rising in popularity I think.

I reckon Tess Clara and Evan Daniel Smile

Amelia Isobel or Tess Clara

Reuben Daniel or Ewan Robert

Thanks for the feedback!
Any suggestions for similar names? Feel like it would be nice to have a few more options but we seem to have become better at eliminating names than thinking of others!

Asha, then Tess (Eve and Amelia so popular they've lost their appeal to me - I am over those names)
Definitely Reuben from your boys list (but also like Evan)

MelinaM · 11/07/2011 16:58

Tess is lovelySmile Amelia and Eve are far, far too popular for my liking.

Love Reuben tooSmile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2011 17:40

I like Tess, Eve and Asha. Love Isobel and like Claire but not Clara.
Not fond of the boys' names, sorry. Love Asher for a boy though.

Ihavewelliesbuttheyrenotgreen · 11/07/2011 18:56

Asha isn't biblical but means Hope apparently

minipie · 11/07/2011 20:27

Tess is great.
Eve is lovely but popular.
Amelia is nice, but soo many of them.
Asha is pretty but I would be expect her to be a boy called Asher iyswim.

All your boys names are equal for me! Evan possibly slightly has the edge.

Thanks for the suggestions Paperbank and Ihavewellies, strangely quite a few of those names were on our shortlists at some stage but have been eliminated for one reason or another! I love Aidan, that might go on the list...
