beachholiday · 11/07/2011 16:51

Wait till she hits 8 years old and starts denying she's Seven..

MelinaM · 11/07/2011 16:57

Indeed, but the teen mums will love it!!! Grin

My first reaction was 'the poor child' but actually after a moment to let it sink in I don't mind it so much. I've heard far worse.

katkitya · 11/07/2011 17:38

I hate the sly digs implying that they are thick. "oh, they wouldn't get harpies, they won't be Seinfeld fans blah, blah" no wonder they aren't coming back to the uk. I bet they don't encounter any snobbery where they are. I'm thinking of that awful schools thread as well.

RunAwayWife · 11/07/2011 17:43

At least Victoria did not have to worry about anyone "stealing" the name.
I like Harper TBH

GeneralDreedlesNurse · 11/07/2011 17:46

Could have been worse they could have called her Blake instead of Harper Smile

mysterynotsolved · 11/07/2011 17:49

Harper sounds like a surname.
Makes me think of a harpoon.
Rhymes with viper.
Basically bleugh.

Doozie · 11/07/2011 17:56

Super naff, but to be expected!

Astonmartinis · 11/07/2011 18:07

Half past seven? Optimum conception time for Posh?

katkitya · 11/07/2011 18:15

You orrible lot. It's not naff at all. If you lived in the States you wouldn't think that.

diddl · 11/07/2011 18:17

"Harper sounds like a surname. "

Well it is, isn´t it?

"Super naff, "

I wouldn´t called it naff, it´s a recognised name-unless you mean the "Seven"

chillistars · 11/07/2011 18:23

It's not what I expected at all, and not what I'd choose but it's OK....seven is a bit weird though

DonnaM82 · 11/07/2011 18:30

Harper was on my list as my favourite book is To Kill A Mockinbird - I'm due my first DC early next year. Needless to say, it's been crossed off the list Hmm

At least I still have Holden for a boy (Hubby's choice - from the only book he's actually read all the way through!)

YellowingWallpaper · 11/07/2011 18:40

I think it's tacky...not that I expected anything less.

I'm with the poster who said in 5 years time you'll hear it being screeched across busy supermarkets by a certain breed of person.

I wouldn't hate it if it was an American boys' name...but I certainly wouldn't choose it for a child born in Britain.

I wonder if VB has read To Kill AMB?

YellowingWallpaper · 11/07/2011 18:40

Donna, did your husband understand The Catcher in the Rye?!

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 11/07/2011 18:42

Truly dreadful, but exactly what one would expect of the tacky, tasteless, stupid Beckhams.

DonnaM82 · 11/07/2011 18:43

YellowingWallpaper - yes which is why he thinks it won't be used much! Plus, our thinking is any name will have negative associations if you look hard enough.

Harper is definately off the list because of the same reason as the comment above - the chavvy variations that will be around in 5 years time. The fact that Neil Patrick Harris has a daughter called Harper Grace didn't put us off (my cat is called Grace - he has good taste in names!) but this certainly has!

We're now thinking Lauren for a girl instead - far too boring for celebs! :D

runnyhabbit · 11/07/2011 18:48

Instead of being shortened to Harpie, maybe it will be HappySmile

And although this is a much wanted and loved baby girl, VB does not strike me as pink and fluffy (a la Katie Price) Like all the other names, and every other parent, they've found names that they've a) they like, and b) they've agreed on

thisisyesterday · 11/07/2011 18:51

love the name Harper

not so sure about Seven- is that cos David was number 7 when he played for Man U?

thisisyesterday · 11/07/2011 18:53

and the fact that it's July as well?

katkitya · 11/07/2011 18:58

Seven means complete in Hebrew.

There are some utterly nasty people on this thread. I'm sure your children all have perfect names. There's some real bitches around here.

mummy2aisha · 11/07/2011 19:07

I think it a stupid name but they dont live in they dont live in the real world so they can get away with it harper sound manish I feel sorry for her but she never need to go out a get a job so she be ok.

smokeybacon · 11/07/2011 19:23

Cheeez, some horrible comments on this thread. And as someone else has said, whatever this baby was named, it would have been critisised.
