Laurence or Elliot?

Laurence, personally

Laurence - nn Laurie

Love Laurence with nn Laurie (dd1 would have been it, had she been ds). Not fond of Elliot.

Prefer Elliot

Lawrence (with a w) although I do like Elliot as well.

For a boy or girl?

For a boy, Elliot.
For a girl, Laurence.

Because DS3 is Laurence (Laurie) and I don't want it getting popular .

Laurence and Laurie are far more "upmarket" than Elliot, if that might be important to you.

Either, love both but only if it's Lawrence.

Laurence is a girls name, the girls version of Laurent. Just like Florence is the female version of Florent. Laurie is also too close to Laura imo.

I quite like Elliot, although am not keen on the nicknames Elli, Ell.

Elliot. My DH and I have it high on our list if dc1 is a boy. Loved the Elliot in ET!

Elliot for me to. I know a female Laurence so to me it's a girls name.

Elliot! Was on my shortlist until very recently.

Laurence does get used for men though - e.g. Laurie Lee (wrote Cider with Rosie) or Laurence Olivier.

I like both but prefer Elliot.

I actually don't know of any female Laurences.

Elliot for me, don't like Laurence.
Would only ever thought have Laurence as a male name but the rationale for being female makes sense.

Not keen on either but Elliot if I had to choose one. I too know a female Laurence but have it heard as a boys name (only in the UK).
