Which name sounds better?

Both are lovely, but Emilia feels slightly more substantial for me -- and I say this as a person whose nickname is Ella.

BBNElea · 07/07/2011 22:50

There is also no reason why Ella couldn't be used as a nickname for Emilia. Best of both worlds.

Hope88 · 08/07/2011 12:39

Depends on your surname too. If your surname long I would use Ella and visa versa.

I like both names.

Emilia by far.

PastyKensit · 08/07/2011 14:53

Emilia.

MelinaM · 08/07/2011 16:25

Emilia for me tooSmile Ella is okay, but not a fan of nn Ellie.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 08/07/2011 16:33

Don't call her Ella unless you're happy for her to be one of at least 20 others at school. Emilia is pretty.

Whelk · 08/07/2011 17:13

Much prefer Ella- simple stylish. Emilia is too fussy and somehow whiny for me.

thepopsiclekat · 09/07/2011 01:46

Emilia, definitely. Very elegant.

lovesicecream · 09/07/2011 10:28

Loads of Amilia s where we are, love Ella

Rosemallow · 09/07/2011 10:54

Lots of amelias/emilias where we live (7 at nursery). My DD is an Ella so I obviously love it and am biased but it isn't common here - she's the only one at her large city centre nursery.

BibiBelle · 09/07/2011 13:10

We have an Ella (8yrs) and she is the only one we know - am fed up saying that though [bored]

Know LOADS of Emily/Emilia/Amelie's though.

I'm not a great believer in being put off a name due to it's popularity though - if you love it use it Hmm

hulabula · 09/07/2011 14:59

We know loads of Ellas/Ellies and equally many Emilias/Amelias/Amelies. Personally that would put me off (having been one of 3 in my class at school), but otherwise they're both fine names.
