How would you pronounce Taija?

Will be meeting this girl at the weekend but have only seen written down, so thought I would canvas opinions! I would go with Asia with a T at the beginning, but a quick lazy google had Tay-ja and even Tay-a.

I'd guess Taya. What country/language is the name from?

Stars22 · 07/07/2011 22:42

Not quite the same but i know a Teija and its pronounced like 'Tay then Asia.'

BBNElea · 07/07/2011 22:47

TAY-uh

meditrina · 07/07/2011 22:50

I'd have gone for Tie-jar, or Tie-ya. But it could be any of the other options.

I think you'll have to find a nice way to ask.

Rhubarbgarden · 08/07/2011 12:39

I'd plump for Tie-ya.

friendcat · 08/07/2011 12:43

Tay-ah

sounds quite nice when you say it like that.

Recently heard a 'Sienna', whose name was spelled 'Cea-enna' Hmm

I used to look after a girl called Taija and it was pronounced Tay-juh

sparkle12mar08 · 08/07/2011 14:42

Tie-ah, with a short 'a' at the end.

DriverDan · 08/07/2011 19:42

I was hoping to just go with the concensus and hope for the best, but there doesn't seem to be one! Will just have to wing it!

Tay-Ah. I made that up though. :)

AnaisB · 08/07/2011 20:56

Reading just your heading I decided on Tie-a (going up at then end to show I wasn't sure how to say it!)

lizzieloubee1 · 08/07/2011 21:57

Tie ja or Tie yuh.

PippiLongBottom · 08/07/2011 21:59

Tay-uh.

mrsmontano · 08/07/2011 22:00

Taya

DriverDan · 08/07/2011 23:58

Right, I'm going with Taya! Surely they get this a lot though, so won't be terribly upset if I get it wrong!
