I have just seen this on another thread and I am falling in love with it all over again! Is this a modern or old fashioned name? And would Christy be nice as a nn?

I like Christa on its own and Isabel/Annabel but I'm not keen on the combination, I'm afraid.

PurpleStrawberry · 07/07/2011 11:59

I adore it, but I couldn't use it, as it's too similar to the Spanish form of Christopher (which is Cristóbal) and therefore it would confuse all my family over in Uruguay. They'd be asking why I'd given my daughter a boy's name!

However, for anyone else, I say use it!

I know a lovely 10 year old Christabel who has changed my view of the name.

On her it seems less frilly/sparkly because she is not that type of girl I suppose. Have never heard it shortened.

I like it, but before I probably would not have been so keen if that makes sense Confused

Christy, Christie and Christa would all be lovely nn and I love the Pankhurst connection too.

squeak2392 · 07/07/2011 13:14

I like it, but much prefer just Christa. Christy is the best nn for female Christ- names, I think.

squeak2392 · 07/07/2011 13:15

That's meant to be underlined.

If you go for a Pankhurst, don't choose Christabel (pro-war). her sister Estelle used her middle name, Sylvia.

BBNElea · 07/07/2011 19:13

I love the sound of Christabel. It has had strong usage in Britain since the 15th century so their are many namesakes to be had beyond Christabel Pankhurst.

Lovely name :)
