Names after places

Imagine if we all had to name our babies after places a la Brooklyn Hmm, Preston and Paris. Thankfully, we don't have to name them such silly names, but if we did, what would yours be? If the place is unusual, tell us where it is please!

Mine would be Darlington. Darling for short, of course!!! [pass the sick emoticon!]

Colchester - Cole or chester for short :)

manicinsomniac · 06/07/2011 07:33

Girls - India, Asia, Africa, Brazil, Kenya, London, Skye, Devon

Boys - Durham, Chester, Paris, Preston, Milan

Could live with any of those if I had to.

fairimum · 06/07/2011 12:47

We have an Iona and if she had a boy we liked Devon, when DS arrived we thought 2 'place' names was a bit much so he is Alex! lol

Haselbury Plucknett - I think it's near Bristol Palin

seeker · 06/07/2011 14:40

Mortlake
Putney
Winnersh

Hedwig3 · 06/07/2011 14:48

Would Mississippi count?

Wouldn't work for a boy though!

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 06/07/2011 14:50

Sofia

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 06/07/2011 14:50

whyohwine · 06/07/2011 14:51

if naming after place of conception it would be harley (IVF on harley street)

BuntyPenfold · 06/07/2011 14:54

I have a Houston.(He loves it when people say they have a problem.)
It's a Wombles tradition.

AberdeenAngusina · 06/07/2011 15:44

Scottish placenames.
Boys - Lewis, Keith, Ross, Harris, Lorne, Arran, Angus.
Girls - Skye, Iona.

GibberingGinger · 06/07/2011 16:19

DD1 would be Edinburgh (Edin maybe for everyday use)
DS1 and DS2 (twins ) Inverness, being twins one would have to be Inver and the other Ness Grin

Strange but not completely implausible!

strandednomore · 06/07/2011 16:26

kingston - would've worked if a boy, but is a girl, so jamaica would work better, although she might possibly have been made in Negril, I'm not too sure.

dd2 would be less exotic, I don't think Cheltenham is a valid name so maybe Chelty???

winkle2 · 06/07/2011 16:53

When I was younger I wanted to call my children after American states.

I like Hawaii and Nevada for a boy.

And Arizona for a girl!

I still like Arizona!

seeker · 06/07/2011 18:06

If I named mine after where they were concieved, they would be Dublin and Cahirciveen.
