DP has just put Dexter into the mix as a late contender. I think I like it. Do I? Do you?

I do like it, but I now associate it with the TV series of the same name.

Blatherskite · 27/06/2011 21:52

A friend called her Son Dexter 16 months ago.

I really liked the series and it was a bit weird calling a baby by a 'serial killers name' for a while but now he's bigger and has his own personality, he's his own Dexter IYSWIM and I don't really think about it anymore.

I'm not sure I would have been able to use it but I like it as a name

birdofthenorth · 27/06/2011 21:56

Like it. Needs a cheeky personality to pull off though Smile

Belljar71 · 27/06/2011 22:24

My Dexter is nearly 6 and was born before the TV series.Never met another one and he really does pull off his name! Cheeky and marches to the beat of his own drum!

Not keen on surnames as first names.

minipie · 28/06/2011 10:43

I like it and I don't think of it as a surname. Reminds me of Dexter Fletcher from Press Gang

snowchick1977 · 28/06/2011 17:14

It's on my list of 2 (along with Chester) for my baby, due in 3 months time.

Love it,

AvengingGerbil · 28/06/2011 17:16

Sorry, but to me Dexter is a breed of small cattle. (Though they are very cute.)

Rhubarbgarden · 28/06/2011 17:44

I really don't like it, sorry.

juneau · 28/06/2011 17:48

Doesn't Charlotte Church have a Dexter?

But yes, I like it. I also love the show of the same name.

LetThereBeRock · 28/06/2011 19:43

It's a horrid name imho.

KeepErLit · 28/06/2011 19:52

Dexter makes me think cows or serial killer.

Sorry.

leftblank · 28/06/2011 19:56

Yes Charlotte Church has one. I quite like it though.

PrincessJenga · 28/06/2011 21:44

Sigh. One day I will find a name Mumsnet agrees on.

I'm loving the Press Gang reminder though. What a show!
