I was just wondering what people think of Dominik. DP is having second thoughts due to the possibillity of Nik as a nickname after his db said it could be called that. If you dont like it can you think of any similar names? TIA

I prefer the spelling Dominic. Love the name. Not over-used at all.

I knew Dominics when I was younger- neither was known as Nic.

secret thats 1 of the things we like about it. Want something a bit different without being too out there. I knew people would say about the spelling but that could change anyway. Just need to convince DP it is still a lovely name and we should go ahead with it

Ye he looks a bit strange dont even recognise him a little. I wouldnt say very young, mid 20's so was around in both 80's and 90's lol

TBH im not sold on the k. i know dp likes it hes got a thing with different spelings so cant try ltre his mind there. I cant complain about it too much as he's agreed to my choice of middle name with no arguement at all. Think he knows better on that one though lol

Moondog, I was born in early 1970s and have never heard of that guy. He's not thta famous.

The speeling it out isn't really an issue to us, i have a common name and have to quite often DP is an unusual spelling of a common name he's grown up with it an doesn't see it at a problem at all far more of a difference than a k instead of ac IYSWIM.

Lose the K and it's a great name. With the K, as someone else said, it looks made up and kre8tiv.
Nic could be the NN still though. OTOH, I do know a couple of Dominics and they are called Dom.

Nic will never be a nickname for Dominic. OH is called Dom by everyone. Never would even think of using Nic

Dominik is the eastern european spelling, so if you have connections great, otherwise maybe just use the traditional british spelling.

Dominik is an actual spelling not one dp and I have made up. Think we may well stick with the usual british spelling. The k spelling i was unsure of and DP is happy to use either one I know the usual nickname for it is Dom not one i can see myself using atm but might stick with me when i hear LO being refered to using it I do prefer Nic but i know nn isn't down to my preference lol. Pippi that is a large part of the appeal to me, being under used. DS has a more common name but the names work together. Thank you everyone for your opinions i really appreciate it.

Dominik is fine in Polish. Not in English. I'm Polish and even I can see that. It'll just seem odd and like you were trying hard to be different and dare I say it, a bit chavvy.
