As in the comedian on BBC1.

If so, is this necessarily a bad thing?

I love Miranda Hart!

Not crazy on the name but if you like it don't let that connection put you off.

meditrina · 21/06/2011 17:10

No - it took me a moment to work out who you meant.

I thought of the poem 'Do you remember an Inn, Miranda?"

Fimbo · 21/06/2011 17:10

No, I think Princess Anne or someone of that ilk. For some reason it sounds as though it should be a showing jumping joules polo shirt wearer. But having said that I do like the name! Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/06/2011 17:10

No, which is just as well because she's as funny as piles!

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2011 17:11

fraid so. but not a bad thing.

Then beautiful girl I was at school with who was an amazing pianist.

ashamedandconfused · 21/06/2011 17:11

Miranda is a lovely name! I dont think one automatically thinks Miranda Hart/slapstick etc

wimpybar · 21/06/2011 17:12

no, i think of sex and the city Grin

aliceliddell · 21/06/2011 17:12

Yes, because she is gorgeous and a right laugh No, I am far too cultured and thus I think of Shakespeare The Tempest (is it that one?)

Hedwig3 · 21/06/2011 17:58

No, I have a wonderful friend with this name so I think of her.

But if I did, it wouldn't be a bad thing.

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 21/06/2011 17:59

2nd for sex and the city here

MelinaM · 21/06/2011 18:07

Nope, Hobbes for me too! Lovely nameSmile

FIFIBEBE · 21/06/2011 18:08

Yes

CountThalim · 21/06/2011 18:14

Shakespeare here. And small towns in Spain... But then I did a chunk of research into the name as it made the shortlist for DD.

It's a very pretty name and I didn't think of any particular Mirandas. It's not overused, but not such an unusual name that it makes you think of one particular person.

mopsyflopsy · 21/06/2011 19:10

Even if people did think of Hart or whatver when they hear a name in isolation, this is very different to meeting a real person named Miranda - these associations change the more people we meet with a certain name.

CharlieBoo · 21/06/2011 19:55

Yes

swash · 21/06/2011 20:07

No - and it's not like Miranda Hart has the profile of Elvis or Madonna anyway. Nobody will remember who she is when your dd is an adult.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2011 20:10

No I don't. I didn't know what/who you even meant until I opened the thread.

I think of The Tempest. It's a fabbo name - we wanted it for dd1 but it didn't go with dp's surname.

Love that poem, Meditrina.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/06/2011 21:01

Yes but thats a good thing surely?

FakePlasticTrees · 21/06/2011 21:05

I think of Miranda Richardson, Miranda from SATC, Miranda from our office and being read your Miranda rights.

It's a lovely name. Go for it!

smother · 21/06/2011 21:11

I think of the Tempest too. and Richardson. and..... someone i knew at school. and that's about it. It's a good name.

pipparoo · 21/06/2011 22:01

Thank you, really pleased with the positive response. I totally love the name but made the mistake of asking someone in RL and they saw the link to Miranda Hart as negative. As with everything I should have courage in my conviction and not care what anyone thinks. If only it was that easy!
