Tell me honestly, is this just plain odd?

A little, maybe. But if you're eccentric enough to carry it off, why not?

tiredlady · 13/06/2011 19:25

Yes.
It's odd.
But if you like it, do it.
I'd think you could get away with it more in, say, Islington than Wolverhampton though.
(no disrespect to the inhabitants of either, but you know..)

not good. Alberta?

Albertine immediately brings to my mind the lovely fragrant pink rambling rose of that name.

I prefer other "tine" names like Clementine, Christine, Justine, Leontine.

Merle · 14/06/2011 08:10

I like all the 'tine' names. I prefer them to girl's names ending in 'a' or 'ly'.

You should use it - maybe a bit eccentric? Not sure why but don't think that's a bad thing!

sophiesmummie · 14/06/2011 13:51

I like it too, also like Christine, Severine, Caroline.

tammytoby · 14/06/2011 14:01

I've not heard it much before but actually yes, I quite like it. Would be lovely to meet a little Albertine Smile.

rachel1970 · 14/06/2011 14:19

Lovely. Prefer it to Alberta (which is a county in Canada to me).

squeak2392 · 14/06/2011 20:32

I don't like it - sounds kinda like a alcoholic drink, and also I just see Albert. If this is a girl, I much prefer Alberta.

manicinsomniac · 14/06/2011 23:42

Albertina?!

I don't like Albert so none of the feminine versions sound good to me personally

Gilberte · 16/06/2011 12:53

Have you been reading Proust?

I love it but then I would wouldn't I? Wink

Oopsie · 16/06/2011 16:10

No, I've actually been watching John Wyndham's Chocky on YouTube.
