Love this - I was asking my friends the exact same question when I was pregnant with DS. Really like the old-fashioned names and looking again for second baby.

My grandparents were
Rita & Nicholas (I love Rita, but DH will only agree as middle name)
Elsie & Jack

DH's grandparents were
Nancy & Maurice (we have Maurice as middle name for DS and might go with Monty if we have DD)

One of my friend's grandfathers was called Herbert. He couldn't believe it when we actually considered it; I love Herb & Herbie!

Daniel and Janet, Derek and Norah. We've used Daniel as DS's middle name already. DH's were Rosie (planning to use this as middle name for the current bump if it's a DD) and Beattie (who was an old cow so won't get a mention). Not sure what his granddads were called.

Love Samuel, this may well turn out to be what we call the bump if it's a DS, with Heath as a middle name as this was my paternal grandmother's family name.

AngryFeet · 12/06/2011 20:06

My Mums parents were Winifred and Joseph

My Dads were Kathy (Katherine) and George (who is still alive)

We used Joseph as a middle name for DS and my gran Kathys middle name Olive (modernised to Olivia) for DD to carry on the family names :)

Kateaw · 12/06/2011 20:09

Jack and Kathleen (Kathleen died fairly young, had a step-grandma, Joan)
Frederick and Evelyn

Fuzzywood · 12/06/2011 20:09

Walter and Bertha
Elizabeth and Robert (I think, Dad's dad who left the family when his wife died leaving them for his MIL to bring up). Great Grandma who brought my dad up was Florence.

I know DH's grandmothers - Joan (still going strong at 86 Smile ) and Phyllis.

goldencondor · 12/06/2011 20:09

My English grandparents were Joseph and Lucy May. Pretty popular names now too.

Raahh · 12/06/2011 20:09

My paternal grandparents (sadly no longer with us)- were Peter and Florence
My maternal ones- Doreen and Frances. My mum is also Doreen, and was not offended that neither myself or my sister continued the tradition!

Peter is my ds's middle name (and i really wanted Florence for dd2)

I have posted before that the names on my Dad's side were great-
my granny's aunts were Lillian and Alice. Her mother was Harriet, and granny ,Eliza.

All names that could just as easily be 'now' names.

BeatRoute · 12/06/2011 20:11

Mine-

Lucy and Harry

Barbara (AKA Bunty) and Maurice (which was his middle name with George being an unused first name)

DP's-

James and Patricia

Robert and Sarah (he thinks...)
