I've suggested it to a few posters. Classy name.

missymoola · 10/06/2011 23:24

I think it's a lovely name. But whenever I hear it I hear 'na na nana naa!' from Clarissa explains it all theme tune.

Awomancalledhorse · 11/06/2011 01:15

missymoola I used to fancy Clarissa's brother Blush.

Love the name Clarissa!

thumbwitch · 11/06/2011 01:16

coloured for me by someone I knew at school - so no, I don't like it.

Objectively, it's a nice name though - it just makes me shudder.

Popbiscuit · 11/06/2011 01:27

Makes me think of Clarissa from Malory Towers who goes from ugly ducking to glossy auburn-haired goddess. I love it, personally, but then I'm partial to anything Enid Blyton.

Popbiscuit · 11/06/2011 01:27

duckling

JenniferClarissa · 11/06/2011 01:36

I think it's a lovely name, even though the first thing that comes to mind is one of the two fat ladies.

manchurian · 11/06/2011 01:37

Like it.

Prefer Clara, but Clarissa is nice too.

PatriciatheStripper · 11/06/2011 11:48

One of my gt-gdmothers was named Clarissa, but usually called Clara, so you can have best of both worlds.

oohlaalaa · 11/06/2011 17:45

It is my all time favourite girls name. Sadly DH does not like it. I like Clarrie for short.

Bandwitch · 11/06/2011 17:47

awful but i hate any name that ends in issa or essa.

Clara is lovely. Clara is beautiful actually. Clarissa could be clara for short so it has that going for it. So for that reason it's not a totally bad choice.

deste · 11/06/2011 23:08

My friends sister was a Clarissa and hated it, she did get called Chloe. she must have been one of the first To be named Chloe.

SloganLogan · 11/06/2011 23:09

It's OK but a bit frilly for me - prefer Claire, Cara, Clara.

cumbria81 · 12/06/2011 07:11

Very twee. Not my bag.

Greythorne · 12/06/2011 07:13

Hate it. Had to read bloody Clarissa in 6th form and it was a nightmare. The man just wanted to write the longest book in English....but he succeeded in writing the most boring book in English. Ever. Fact.

muminthemiddle · 12/06/2011 13:56

I love it. wanted it for my dd2 but dh vetoed it full stop. Must be a man thing oohlalaa.

darleneoconnor · 12/06/2011 14:08

I love it. But I like all the -issa names eg Nerissa, Melissa, Marissa, Elissa, Alissa.

pilates · 13/06/2011 16:36

Like Clara or Clarice but not Clarissa.
