What do you think?

Surname is long, begins with K.

Will Kate be to common this year?

I like Lucy and Eleanor. Also like Sarah and Jane but would choose one or the other.

Kate is OK, but I think it will be very popular and I'd use a longer name as full name.

MelinaM · 10/06/2011 21:14

Eleanor or Sarah, not Sarah-Jane thoughSmile

MollysChamber · 10/06/2011 21:15

Sarah. Without the Jane.

Tuggy · 10/06/2011 21:49

Kate, Lucy or Eleanor.

Not Sarah-Jane

MerryMarigold · 10/06/2011 21:51

Eleanor is lovely! Relatively unusual, but classic, beautiful and strong.

WhereIsTheFire · 10/06/2011 22:41

Lucy

PotteringAlong · 10/06/2011 22:45

Eleanor or Lucy

amberleaf · 10/06/2011 22:46

I love Eleanor!

wudu · 10/06/2011 22:50

Lucy

BikeRunSki · 10/06/2011 22:51

Kate - is a nickname, and will be v common
Sarah-Jane - American
Lucy - Boring
Eleanor - Lovely, lovely, lovely, I would want it for Bump if I didn't already have a niece called Eleanor.

Yama · 10/06/2011 22:53

What about Lucy-Jane?

swash · 10/06/2011 23:02

Sarah is lovely.

5DollarShake · 10/06/2011 23:12

All fantastic names - but definitely Sarah OR Jane.

manicinsomniac · 12/06/2011 11:57

Lucy I think but I like them all.

Disagree that Eleanor is unusual though. There are an average of 2-3 Eleanors per year where I work (15-20 girls per year) (mainly shortened to Ellies though so I guess the longer version is more unusual)

supadupapupascupa · 12/06/2011 12:10

Sarah Jane is lovely, but don't hyphenate.

muminthemiddle · 12/06/2011 13:52

Eleanor is my favourite.
Kate next.
Lucy next-but very common at the moment.
Sarah -Jane my least fave as a bit too twee for me. Ok for a child but doesn't suit an adult.

randomimposter · 12/06/2011 14:34

Eleanor my favourite, then Cate.
Not keen on the others, sorry.

sarahloula · 12/06/2011 16:42

Eleanor is a lovely name, my favourite by far.

TantePiste · 12/06/2011 16:47

I love, love, love Eleanor. My dh vetoed it for dd. sigh.

fedupofnamechanging · 12/06/2011 18:30

There are millions of Eleanor's at the moment, so I'd avoid that one. It's a bit ordinary imo.
I quite like Lucy, but again there are a lot of girls with that name, so it depends on whether you mind having a name which is very popular.
I am a 37 year old Sarah (like all the other girls born in the '70's Grin). Although there are a lot of us in our 30's, it is an unusual name for a child and I do like it very much.
I also think that Kate is lovely and this was on my shortlist.

All these names are used across all classes and don't date so they are all good choices.

fedupofnamechanging · 12/06/2011 18:34

Meant to say that as a Sarah, please don't use either Jane or Louise as a middle name. Your daughter won't thank you for it as it is sooo boring, rather like using May, Grace or Rose as a middle name is today. Each is a lovely name on its own, but has been over used in recent years.

I've probably offended loads of people now. Sorry

proudfoot · 12/06/2011 19:19

Eleanor or Lucy

These are actually lovely together, Eleanor Lucy or Lucy Eleanor

MerryMarigold · 12/06/2011 19:30

I don't know ANY Eleanors, except me! (and I am late 30's). Quite a few Ella's though.

pilates · 12/06/2011 20:37

Eleanor and Lucy are my favourites but dislike the nn Ellie.

Bandwitch · 12/06/2011 20:42

Jane or Eleanor.

Lucy, Kate and Sarah just never ever go away. I went to school with girls with these names, so for that reason I much prefer Jane and Eleanor.
