What about Davinia for a girl?

Sounds like Davina (which I've never liked) with a bit added on. Don't like it. Sorry.

valiumbandwitch · 08/06/2011 16:28

I think it's ok. Davinnya is nicer than Daveeena which is a bit whiney sounding. Would people get it wrong and call her Davina? Say not like McCall, like Murphy.

I knew a girl whose real name was Davidinia. awful. No offence to any Davidinias out there.

Renaissance227 · 08/06/2011 16:33

I've never heard of a Davidinia before. Yuk!! and again no offence to anyone with that name! Smile

No

Jemma1111 · 08/06/2011 16:40

Not keen at all I'm afraid

Hi Renaissance!!

I quite like it, but I do think there would be a lot of confusion with Davina. (For ages I was convinced the Hollyoaks actress was called Davina Taylor, as visually the two names look the same written down).

That said, my DH says I am obsessed with adding extra syllabels into names (eg I prefer Gabriella to Gabrielle, Leonora to Leona, etc etc)!!!

It's okay. I think Lavinia is a million times nicer though.
I think Davina's better than Davinia.

Karbea · 08/06/2011 22:33

Lavinia just makes me think of toilets...
I don't like davinia or davina, but if you have to have one go with davina.

Renaissance227 · 09/06/2011 08:44

I already know a Davinia and it seems to be very rare and unusual, which is part of the reason I like it.
It doesn't sound as common as Davina and I've never, until posting here, met someone who doesn't like it!
Thank you very much for your opinions anyway Smile

I like Davinia - it sounds elegant, feminine and is easy to pronounce/spell not only in English but most other languages too. And it isn't already used by thousands of other little girls. Lovely choice imo.

I also find Davinia more feminine than Davina - I like the -inia ending more Smile.

Thank you hellokitty Smile
