You'll end up saying "Oh come on, Eileen" at some point and collapsing in giggles along with anyone over 35 within earshot. Every one else will be all Hmm

Don't do it, its my mums name and she really doesn't like it, people never spell it right either, or mis-hear it as Irene?!

Ephiny · 08/06/2011 11:59

Don't like it, sorry, I'm not keen on any of the names ending in the 'een' sound actually (Irene, Kathleen etc), just sounds a bit whiny or something to me. Seems very old-fashioned to me as well, not something I'd think of for a little girl now.

Ellen is nice though.

PatriciatheStripper · 08/06/2011 16:08

It's a name from my mother's generation which I never used to like, but I find like it better now, especially spelled Aileen.

smartyparts · 08/06/2011 16:13

Also think it's a name from my mother's generation along with Maureen/Angela/Irene type names.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 08/06/2011 16:21

I love it. But the C'mon Eileen thing is strong, sadly.

radancer · 08/06/2011 16:25

nope

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 08/06/2011 16:37

How about Ellen Jane instead? Wink

mathanxiety · 08/06/2011 20:25

DD1 (21) has a friend Eileen, but she was the only one in school.
