I've been resisting asking for other people's opinions but now am desperate!

We've got to decide soon ...

Our shortlist is:

Dora
Hester
Iris
Rosa
Rhona
Mabel

Please could you let me know what your opinions are.

Thank you x

Iris is a bit harsh

Hester sounds like a vogue model to me - tall - beautiful- intellectual

dexifehatz · 06/06/2011 23:04

Hester is cool.How about Hilary?

AlfalfaMum · 06/06/2011 23:09

I like Iris, rosa and Mabel. Choose whichever name goes best with her surname perhaps.

brightcopperkettles · 06/06/2011 23:13

Another vote for Rosa

GwendolineMaryLacey · 06/06/2011 23:14

Hester is lovely, not wild about the others.

Mabel!!

HerRoyalNotness · 06/06/2011 23:20

Hester is my favourite of your list.

And congratulations!

CocktailQueen · 06/06/2011 23:25

love Iris and Rhona (wuold use that spelling instead of Rhona)
like Rosa (how about Rosanna?)
Hate Dora, Hester, Mabel = yuk, really old fashioned, sorry

Concordia · 06/06/2011 23:27

hester sounds like a boys name to me. sorry.
i prefer iris, rosa and rhona off your list.
why don't you rule them out one by one and watch your reactions to it?
and then try calling her one for a few days and see how it goes.

Italiangreyhound · 06/06/2011 23:42

Iris, love it.

deste · 06/06/2011 23:43

Hester is really lovely.

newportstateofmind · 06/06/2011 23:51

Iris is beautiful.

jenniec79 · 06/06/2011 23:55

Dora was my Grandmother's name - I love it, but agree the explorer connection would be a bit difficult to live with at the moment. (I also had to cross Hermione off my list recently for "being forever associated with wizadry")

I hope I'll work out a way to include Dora as a middle name for a DD, but not sure what it would go with.

Mamalotty · 06/06/2011 23:57

Love Rosa. We nearly went for that. Rosie would be cute abbreviation while she's little.

UndiscoveredApprentice · 07/06/2011 00:13

I'd go for Rhona from your list, or Mirrin or Vickery from my own little world of names. I won't use them now, so I pass them on to you.

farrowandballs · 07/06/2011 00:25

Hester is beautiful. One of my best ever friends is called Hester. Strong, intelligent, generous woman. I love Rosa too (Luxembourg, Parks - great associations), and Dora too. In fact they're all lovely. You have lovely names; now go and stick one on your daughter and enjoy!

radancer · 07/06/2011 01:33

Love Rosa
Like Iris

Dislike Dora
Strongly dislike Rhona

smother · 07/06/2011 11:11

Either Iris or Rosa - both beautiful.
Rhona is also lovely and a little less popular. Not that Iris or Rosa are overly popular but I've definitely come across babies with these names at nurseries, playgroups etc. I've also met a couple of Mabels recently, nn May. Personally I'd avoid Dora and Hester. What about Esther?

PasstheTwiglets · 07/06/2011 11:16

Love Mabel - the baby in a US TV show I used to watch was called Mabel because it stood for Mothers Always Bring Extra Love. Vomit-inducing but sweet anyway :)

Domesticbodess · 07/06/2011 11:19

Rosa!!!!!!!!

seeker · 07/06/2011 11:20

I vote for Hester or Mabel.

At the risk of muddying the waters - have you considered Maud?

MumblingRagDoll · 07/06/2011 11:20

Iris! or Hester. Both beautiful.

cupofteaplease · 07/06/2011 11:22

Mabel! It is my dd Mabel's 4th birthday today, she is super and I'm sure your dd is too. Smile

LucyDeSpiderman · 07/06/2011 11:26

I love Iris and Rosa. So pretty.
