DH loves the name Toby but I think it's gone a bit downmarket. Have noticed this a lot in my area. Is it just my area (essex!)? Not Tobias btw, just Toby.

I don't think it's downmarket at all. Quite the opposite imo. Lovely name, sort of cosy.

I'm not keen on Toby/Alfie/Archie type names personally, I think they'll date soon.

I have a Toby (8), he's warm, friendly and a real character Grin

I wouldn't say downmarket but I would say it's become more popular/common and has lost a little of the "posh" (for want of a better word) element it once had, same as Oliver. It's a nice name though and I don't think it will ever actually BE downmarket.
