I had a baby girl on Tuesday and can't make up my mind what to call her - I can't afford to lose any more sleep thinking about it so would like some help. She has an older brother and sister Ewan and Lois and her middle name will be Molly or Gwendolyn if we go with Eliza or Gwendolyn if we go with Florence (I think Florence Molly sounds a bit silly). Our surname if Palmer. Please reply asap I am getting 10 texts a day asking her name - husband prefers Florence but I'm really stuck.

Ah - just tell everyone you don't know yet. You need some time to recover from birth and enjoy your little girl.

QuickLookBusy · 03/06/2011 20:19

Agree with swash.

But didn't quite understand which middle name went with which first name.Smile

Hassled · 03/06/2011 20:22

There's no rush - you need to be sure. People can just wait until you're good and ready.

Both names are lovely. Eliza is maybe slightly easier as an adult name - Florence might be a hard name to have in your teens/twenties?

Boogiemumma · 03/06/2011 20:24

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl!
Florence Gwendolyn or Florence Eliza are nice, Molly is nice but doesn't really go with any of the other names imo.

jammiedodger11 · 03/06/2011 20:39

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!

I like both but if I had to choose I would probably opt for Eliza. Not sure if Gwendolyn is a family name, if not you could use Florence as a middle name.

Take your time choosing, it's an important decision you are making. Others will have to wait!

randomimposter · 03/06/2011 21:44

Both lovely, but prefer Eliza and think it goes better with your other DC names.
Would go Eliza Florence myself.
Congratulations.

mich54321 · 03/06/2011 22:15

Eliza Florence is lovely

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 03/06/2011 22:19

Eliza Florence

(DD is Florence and I love it, but I think out of your choices FE sounds the best.)

Congratulations! :)

Pinner35 · 03/06/2011 22:21

Another vote for Eliza Florence....its lovely.

Jojay · 03/06/2011 22:23

Eliza Florence or Eliza Gwendolyn

danceswiththedaffodils · 03/06/2011 22:43

Congratulations! Smile

Eliza Florence is gorgeous

newportstateofmind · 03/06/2011 22:48

Oooh, both names are lovely!

I think Eliza Palmer possibly has a better rhythm than Florence Palmer though.

Congratulations, by the way!! Smile

basingstoke · 03/06/2011 22:49

Eliza

MayDayChild · 03/06/2011 22:55

Eliza as I have one! Eliza Molly is best out of the mix if you can't go Eliza Florence

pilates · 04/06/2011 10:51

Another one for Eliza Florence, don't think your middle names go.

mayanna123 · 04/06/2011 11:04

Eliza is lovely. Florence is ok but I don't like the nicknames. Also Eliza Florence sounds lovely together.

valiumbandwitch · 04/06/2011 11:07

Eliza. Flora is lovely though, and goes better with ewan and lois (imo)

amychuck · 04/06/2011 11:28

Thanks for all the congratulations and advice, getting a bit closer to a decision but you're right that family etc will just have to wait and there's no big hurry cause we can't register until the 17th.
I agree that Eliza Florence is lovely but want to use Gwendolyn or Molly after my Grandma so its likely to be Eliza Molly, Eliza Gwendolyn or Florence Gwendolyn.

Would you consider 3 names?

Eliza Florence Molly
Eliza Florence Gwendolyn
Eliza Molly Gwendolyn
Florence Molly Gwendolyn

We did this with DD1 as I wanted to include both of our grandmas' names. DD2 only has 2 names and she doesn't mind at all.

QuickLookBusy · 04/06/2011 13:30

Gosh I hope I haven't confused you any more.

Ignore, ignore, ignore.Smile

swash · 04/06/2011 15:36

I love Gwendolyn! You could always have Florence Gwen or Eliza Gwen. I might choose Florence to avoid two siblings having the same initial.

exoticfruits · 04/06/2011 15:45

Eliza Florence or Eliza Gwendolyn

Weloveguineapigs · 04/06/2011 15:50

Eliza.

SloganLogan · 04/06/2011 20:35

Florence Gwendolyn would be my favourite combination, or you could have Florence Mary (Molly is a diminutive form of Mary). Eliza Gwendolyn is nice. I wouldn't go for Eliza Molly - too much of the chambermaid theme.

PorkChopSter · 04/06/2011 20:37

I'd go for Florence simply because you already have an E initial. I prefer Gwendolyn to Molly as a second name.
