We are currently ttc dc2, with no urgent need for names. But thought I'd ask you viper what you thought of my names short list.

Girls:
Felicity Daisy
Tabitha Felicity
Ava (middle name tbc)

Boys:
Theo
Noah
Oliver
Oscar

Dh likes George. I can't get past the pig anymore.

Be as merciless as you like. I'm tough! :o

I like them all except Tabitha but there is no reason I dislike it just not my cuppa I guess.

valiumbandwitch · 02/06/2011 16:16

I prefer George.

Felicity is hard to say, it's got no obvious nick name. It's a bit prissy, a bit close to fellatio. It's just not a good name imo. Felix for a boy on the other hand is much better.

Tabitha is a bit trendy, a bit witch#s cat though. Not keen.

Daisy is lovely but maybe a bit cutesy for an adult. Ava makes a lovely middle name though, depending on how the first name runs into it.

Your boys' names.
Theo. I prefer Leo, it's more classic and less trendy. Leo will be less specifically 2003-2009

NOah - ok but a bit feminine imo
Oliver - OK, very popular.

Oscar - ok, but prefer Felix, it has a similar vibe but is just nicer imo.

Maybe Georgie as a nn would have the 'trendy' vibe I think you are after. But as it is, George is a better name than any on your boys' list.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 02/06/2011 16:20

I like Felicity Daisy and Oliver Noah best. Don't like Tabitha or George.

Hulababy · 02/06/2011 16:22

Girls - Of all the names I like Daisy best. From the options given, possibly Felicity Daisy. I know my DH likes the name Felicity, I am less keen.

Boys - I like Oliver best, then George, followed by Oscar, Noah and finally Theo.

meditrina · 02/06/2011 16:24

Felicity - OK
Daisy - lovely, but you might want to have a think about using it as a nn for Margaret (Margaret Ava would work well).
Tabitha - lovely!!

Theo - lovely name, especially if you use Theodore on BC, a classic both sides of the Atlantic
Noah - OK, but a lot of them around
Oliver - OK, consistently at the top of the charts, but not that many (round here, at least)
Oscar - lovely!!

foolserrand · 02/06/2011 16:36

It would be Theodore on the bc.

Ds was going to be Felicity (family middle name) Daisy (as in whoops Blush) but it has lost its magic now.

Trying to avoid the chelsee / dwayne names that are far too common round my way. But don't want the child teased too much in case we can't escape before they start school.

I like Tabitha and Felicity. Ava is a little dull in comparison but fine as a middle name.
I don't really like any of the boys' names, they're more common in comparison, especially Oscar (and I really dislike Os/Ossie). Theodore is probably the most classiest.

MollyMurphy · 02/06/2011 16:43

I think your boys list is quite good. I like Noah the best, followed by Oscar, Oliver, George (sorry) and then Theo.

As for you girls list....you asked for our honest opinions now...

I despise Tabitha - really. I think its horrid.

I like Ava the best, followed by Felicity.

Scheherezadea · 02/06/2011 17:37

NN for Felicity is Flic - I had a friend called Flic :) or Fliss

BehindLockNumberNine · 02/06/2011 17:42

Love the Felicity Daisy combination. That is really pretty. I love the nn Fliss too.
Can't stand Tabitha. Purely personal preference.

As for the boys - I have an Oliver. Still absolutely love the name. It is popular but there are not too many about.

Also love Noah and Theo.

foolserrand · 02/06/2011 18:17

Dh is now smug thanks to so many of you liking George. Could I dissuade you by saying our surname also begins with G?

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 02/06/2011 18:26

Nothing wrong with George but not sure if the surname also begins with G...

foolserrand · 02/06/2011 18:32

We are probably going for Thomas as a middle name for the boys. Another family tradition. Not sure about GTG for initials.

OP posts:
pilates · 02/06/2011 20:58

George is a really great name.

Oliver second and the rest I don't like.

Ava is very nice, not keen on the rest.

valiumbandwitch · 02/06/2011 23:34

is the g in the sur name soft or hard?

GTG seem fine as initials.

ChippingIn · 02/06/2011 23:43

Girls:
Felicity Daisy - I like and I like both Fliss and Flic
Tabitha Felicity - sorry, but it's a cat :)
Ava (middle name tbc) - no, just don't like it

Boys:
Theo - no too girly
Noah - too many of them
Oliver - didn't like it, but it's growing on me as my friends little boy is called that and he's LOVELY :) (big boy now!)
Oscar - I quite like it

George - I quite like it, but I do tend to think of dinosaurs Grin oink

foolserrand · 03/06/2011 00:01

A hard G, Vallium.

OP posts:
brightcopperkettles · 03/06/2011 02:44

I was going to suggest Felicity Ava from your girls' names until you mentioned your surname starts with G. I do like Felicity a lot though and the little one I knew got called Flossie or Floss.

From your boys' names I like George best (sorry) although not sure on GG as initials. I do like Thomas for a first name though if that is a contender?

redflagsahoy · 03/06/2011 18:25

I like Theo and Ava, both nice and international too

squeak2392 · 03/06/2011 20:05

I don't like Tabitha, and both full names are tongue-twisters. Don't like Daisy either.

Don't like George, but that's just me.
Not sure about the other boys names.

Stars22 · 03/06/2011 23:00

I think they are all ok except Tabitha hate it. (sorry!)

I think Ava is quite nice.

I dont like the name Theo, but like the others and think George is nice.

WillowFae · 03/06/2011 23:56

I have a friend who is a Felicity and she is called Effie.
