STILL not decided on a name, any thoughts for the above please? (DH insists it is 1 or 2 syllables).

What names does he like?

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 31/05/2011 09:15

Juliette (but not with Eloise, his crazy syllable rule)
Hazel

Think that's about it.

My list:
Alice (Dh thinks of the song, who the...)
Happy with Juliette as a middle name
Hazel (but possibly not with a French name)
Matilda (DH doesn't like)

Something that has a distinct starting sound of its own so the two don't run together when you say them together. So, for example, I'd veto Eloise Isla (though both are nice names) on that basis. Same for anything beginning with S which will need careful pronunciation.

How about

Jane, Jessica, Jennifer, Jemma, Jasmine
Lara, Laura, Lauren
Katherine, Kara
Rachel, Rebecca, Regan, Renee
Tara, Tabitha

wudu · 31/05/2011 09:20

Juliette is stunning! ...and goes lovely with Eloise.

In fact it sounds even more lovely the other way round, Juliet Eloise.

What's with the syllable thing?

EightiesChick · 31/05/2011 09:21

Sorry, had missed the bit about 1 or 2 syllables Confused so some of the above are out of bounds.

Hazel's OK but wouldn't be in my top choices if I'm honest.

EightiesChick · 31/05/2011 09:22

I do think a name starting with J would work well...

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 31/05/2011 09:24

God knows what his syllable thing is all about.

He thinks if 1st name has 2, 2nd should have 1, if 1st name has 3, 2nd can have 1 or 2, if 1st has 1, 2nd can have 2 or 3. No idea why but he won't budge!

I like Eloise Juliette (not the other way round though, as couldn't abide shortening to Jules or Julie).

He also won't use a name of someone we know, so that leaves:

Jane, Jessica, Jennifer, Jemma, Jasmine
Lara, Laura, Lauren
Katherine, Kara
Rachel, Rebecca, Regan, Renee
Tara, Tabitha

then out of those left, Lara is too much like my name, I like Cara (not Kara so much) but won't work with surname, Regan and Renee are a bit American, and his parents have a cat called Tabitha!

:o at the syllable rules

Erm ...
Jenna?
Hannah?
Beth?
Cora?
Mia?

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 31/05/2011 09:50

Nope, afraid none of those will do, for one reason or another!

Sorry, I'm quite picky too!

OP posts:
wudu · 31/05/2011 10:18

It's ok. A little bit twee and lots of them, if that bothers you.

wudu · 31/05/2011 10:19

Ah, you may have a point. DTD2's middle name is Rose, DTD1 (stillborn)'s middle name is also Rose, I quite like the flower thing. Any more flowers (of probably only 1 syllable?!!
