I don't know any under 40. It has a pretty sound to it.

YUCK! I really dislike it! it's harsh. The 'essa' sound is ugly. I also dislike Melissa though. Some of those 'our age' names are nice though. I like Melanie (pretty) and Jillian and Lindsay.

No, I dislike the name, but its probably influenced by name association, as I was bullied in school by a girl called Vanessa. Her nn was Nessie.

Vanessa is a name for a beautiful woman, and is most unfortunate if the child turns out to be a minger. :o
