Lana is a name in itself BTW. It's in my book, and here You might as well just use it.

Prefer Ilana (hebrew - tree), alana sounds a bit of a more recent invention. Would be put off Lana a bit by the backwards reading. Sorry, but someone will probably point it out.

I love the name alana. We struggled to chosse between that and one other name7 we went for the other as it kind of had family links.

I don't know why but it never got a good response whenever I asked on here.

I would definately use it if I was lucky enough to have another dd.

( That's if sil doesn't get there before me!)

mathanxiety · 30/05/2011 21:43

Are you pronouncing it Alayna or A-LAN-ah?

smartyparts · 30/05/2011 21:47

Lana is OK. Don't like Alana.

It's Alan with an a on the end.

And I'm not keen on Alan.

Climbthewall · 30/05/2011 22:05

pronounced A-LAN-ah

There's also Alannah

(couple of famous singers by that name, Alannah Myles, and Alannah Currie of the Thompson Twins.)

I like it a lot. I would spell it with two Ns or even with the H on the end, or you may get people saying 'Alayna'.

5DollarShake · 31/05/2011 02:19

I have a friend with an Alanna. I like it.
