I don't think I like it - but it's the kind of name I want for DS3.

Not sure what I mean by that - old, classic but underused? Not trying too hard? The Holy Grail of names. Not asking for much!

Aww my DH is a Russell, mainly he is called Russ, his parents gave him the name then as it was unusual

Isn't it a bit 1960's? Anyone I know with that name is about 50. I quite like it, but....
agree, Lawrence and Duncan are similar somehow, but feel more acceptable, don't know why.

I would have a look at the baby name statistics and look at all the boys names used last year. There are lovely names outside of the top 100 or even top 250.

I agree it seems like an old name, but then Russell Brand and Russell Howard are both under 37 yrs old, plus Russell Crowe etc. Got the feeling it's names like that which will increase in the next 5 years.

Love love love Russell. It is one of my son's middle names. A fine, strong name.

I know a little Russell, it is a lovely name

as long as you don't have jack in there, lovely.

I prefer Russ to Russell, but Russell is nice too. Actually it's versatile and I like that. I like Ross as well and Roscoe.

I like names that are normal names but underused and not trendy.

Somebody was asking the other day, 'name for Finn's brother?' and actually Russ(ell) would be a good one.
