SonjaA, from Nickelbabe's link, the voice crying in the wilderness -- hope she found MN.

Broody1976 · 26/05/2011 17:02

I'm just too horrified to read any more of that thread.

mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 17:06

'I like Taylia, a friend of mine has that name for her daughter...
Sonja - This thread is about suggesting unique/unusual names for others, not about criticising them or responding to people's choices in a negative way. You have come across very negatively in some of your responses.
Let's get back on track with suggesting unusual names & helping others find a name...'

Taylia ??? (oh dear, you really should listen to SonjaA...)

'Sonja, as Mellisa and Lindsay have said, this thread is to suggest unique names, not to disrespect the choices that other parents have made for their child. There are other sites where this kind of criticism is rife, but I really don't think that netmums appreciate such negativity.'
lolol

mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 17:07

And the funny thing is, SonjaA is posting from Croatia..

nickelbabe · 26/05/2011 17:08

I just sent a PM to that Sonja and invited her over.

She types proper sentences in proper english too! Shock

mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 17:29

'my son is called devon-jay and ne was named before nell mcandrew called her on devon an di have a daughter called megane i tend to like adding letters to names to make them different as sis my mum we have
HAYLEIGH MYSHELL (MICHELLE)
LOURYN FYONA (LAUREN FIONA)
MARTYN DYNAL (MARTIN DANIEL)
ROBRYT CHEYNE (ROBERT SHANE)

so maybe you could just change the letters around to make the spelling different
jayson
katelynn
rian
le
etc i have loads but it would go on for ever lol '

Broody, I need your steely resolve.

smartyparts · 26/05/2011 17:39

'My cousin is a big Man United fan and his kids are called
Trafford James (after the ground)
Erica (Eric Cantona)
Ferguson (After the manager)'

Dear God!

MelinaM · 26/05/2011 17:53

I agree with DELHI, Peyton is very much of the same ilk as Paige ...and Courtney etc..

There are some many lovely names out there, how about Paloma?

smartyparts · 26/05/2011 18:29

'i don't have unusual names as i couldn't think of any i just spelt them different like i had Krystal-lea and Rylee instead of spelling them the normal way'

GrinGrinGrin

And the normal way for spelling Krystal-lea is?

razzlebathbone · 27/05/2011 09:04

"My dd is Tayla and my ds is Kaiden both are getting more popular now sadly."

Indeed.

B52s · 27/05/2011 10:22

Nooooo.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2011 10:25

I'm American born. It's a common enough name there.

But I'm going to go out on a limb here and don my flamesuit, because every single female I know with that name (and it's a girls name there), is a straight-up bitch.

So it's a 'no' from me.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2011 10:27

Every Courtney I've met is a bitch, too.

I had a teacher called Courtney in primary school. She was the bane of my existence and to this day, I wish her every ill possible in this life and the next.

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 27/05/2011 10:32

OP I do not love Peyton either there is one at dds preschool but it is spelled Peighton - ugh random letters inserted into names :)

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/05/2011 10:37

No, no and thrice no.

EricNorthmansMistress · 27/05/2011 11:35

Grin

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 27/05/2011 11:45

Nooooooo I have just been reading the thread and my ds2's name has been mentioned as someone's 'fave' grrr
"For a boy I like Jared (my fave!) , Brent, Tidas and Thad. Dont know if theyd be considered unusual though!

I bloody knew it would be on there somewhere, maybe I should've started a thread entitled AIBU to name my ds something that could be construed as chavvy

nickelbabe · 27/05/2011 11:46

Jared's fine - it's not "unusual" per se.
it's a classic.
it's biblical

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 27/05/2011 11:53

Ok that makes me feel better thanks. He is also not named after some shitty vampire character as someone else suggested further down.

"I know with a few of my friends it seems to be the rage to name your babies after the vampire films/programmes...Twilight, The Vampire Diaries and True Blood and they have got some nice unusual names...
Sookie, Damon, Stephan, Elena, Bonnie, Esme, Bella, Jasper, Jared, Tara, Tyler, Elijah, Rose"
