Middle name for Emilia

Roseland · 21/05/2011 19:51

I am pregnant with my 2nd child (a girl) and we think that we are decided on Emilia as a first name (although still not sure that this is "the one"). We are really stuck on a middle name so I am looking for some help / suggestions please.

We quite like the following:

Emilia Alice (after a Grandmother)
Emilia Hope (we had a really rough early pregnancy due to my son being really ill - the baby helped us focus on positives)

Still, not overwhelmed by either - any thoughts?

My middle names are Alice Emilia :o So I like that combo.

How about Emilia Anne, simple and elegant.

I like both your suggestions

if DS1 had been a girl he would have been Emilia Frances

zippylou · 21/05/2011 20:04

Emilia-beth
Emilia-kate
Emilia-Mae ???

eatyourveg · 21/05/2011 20:05

Emilia Jane

izzybizzybuzzybees · 21/05/2011 20:07

We have an Emily Rose so i think Emilia Rose would be lovely x

Thank you all for your replies. This was my first post so really grateful.

We can't use some of the other ideas - Kate, Beth, Jane or Anne due to them being used by other family / friends and doesn't seem right.

I do really like Rose and might have to add that to the list. I'm torn between choosing a name that is lovely just because, and having one that has meaning (like our son's middle name and ours too).

Emilia Alice is beautifulSmile

You do know that Emily/Emilia/Amelie/Amelia are very very popular names and already used by lots and lots of other little girls? This may not bother you but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I'd choose a middle name with some meaning to you e.g. to honour a loved family member.

Roseland · 21/05/2011 21:33

I was a little worried about the popularity of the names but don't actually know any babies / toddlers named Emily or Emilia so was hoping that they weren't in this area. I do know an Amelia and Amelie but only one of each.

Mind you, I don't know many children so I could be completely ignorant of the fact that every 2nd girl is Emilia (and that would bother me). I had no idea that naming a child could be this difficult!! :)

emilia grace

emilia joy
emilia faith

Thanks freesias - I really like all of your suggestions - they would all have a meaning to us which is something I really want. I'm not convinced she'll be named properly until we meet her!

I would avoid a mn beginning with 'A' as I think the two names run into each other.

How about Emilia Pearl?

randomimposter · 22/05/2011 22:25

Emilia is LOVELY - I don't know any. know an Amelia, an Emily and an Amelie, but Emilia much nicer IMO.

Emilia Hope is a lovely name.

Or Emilia Genevieve/Tess/Clemency.

mrmistoffelees · 22/05/2011 22:52

If we have another daughter Emilia Violet will be on our list (Violet after my gran). I know an Amelia and an Emilia, who gets Millie, but I don't think it's massively popular where I live.

Camerondiazepam · 22/05/2011 22:54

Emilia Grace

katherine2008 · 23/05/2011 17:20

Amelia Isabelle
Amelia Kitty

cadifflur · 23/05/2011 17:23

Think Emilia Hope is beautiful. Also think it would go lovely with a lot of the popular middle names for girls such as Rose, Grace, Beth, Kate.

ViolaTricolor · 23/05/2011 18:29

I know an Emilia Joy, I have always thought her name is lovely.

MeantToStopAtTwo · 23/05/2011 18:46

I like Rose too. Are there any family names you would consider using?

Lovely choice of first name.

Roseland · 24/05/2011 17:49

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments - I think just having the name out there has really made me settle on Emilia as a first name.

I hadn't thought of Emilia and Alice running into each other but can definitely see that once said out loud.

I really like a lot of these suggestions. We are really struggling with family names as middle names, although Rose would honour a family member so I do like that possibility. There just don't seem to be any names that work really well, or one obvious person to honour (she will be born into a family with a lot of women). It was so easy with my DS as there was such an obvious middle name.

Will keep thinking about this daily until she is born so will definitely get there in the end :)

Emilia is a lovely name, but seems to be really popular in our area - of my NCT group there are 2 (out of 6 girls) and I have met at least 2 more.
