I'm a bit wary because of Dawson's Creek, but it was my grandfather's middle name and I quite like it. Thoughts?

OOh, did I?I can't resist expressing a visceral reactio to a name I don't like. Grin

If you and yours like it, that's all that matters m'dear.

My mother ruined a name my sister had her heart set on a while ago (Inigo) by laughing cruelly and saying 'In 'e go, out 'e go').

I have inherited her brutal streak I think.

EdithWeston · 19/05/2011 23:53

I suggest keeping it in the middle.

In UK, I think it'll be a while before it escapes from the shadow of Les.

GrimmaTheNome · 19/05/2011 23:59

Oh dear. You're asking a bunch of mostly Brits. Do an image search for 'Les Dawson' .... fondly remembered but that's the picture that springs to mind Grin (hey...just realised we need a [gurn] emoticon!)

CheerfulYank · 20/05/2011 02:12

Hmm...well...

No one here would know him. But that is something to consider!

Don't like surnames. But as a tribute to a relative it's OK as a middle name.

oohlaalaa · 20/05/2011 10:43

I suggest keeping it as a middle name too.

tummytickler · 20/05/2011 10:54

Keep it as a mn. It is pretty awful. I agree with pp - Les Dawson, then Dawsons Creek.

LadyWithNoManors · 20/05/2011 10:55

Horrid

NormanTheForeman · 20/05/2011 10:56

I have a second cousin in Australia called Dawson. He is lovely, so I rather like the name, and have good associations with it.

pjani · 20/05/2011 10:59

I like it.

wheniwishuponastar · 20/05/2011 11:57

I like it. I think people should be encouraged to use names that aren't used that much if they sound nice. i think this one does. i much prefer it to old fashioned names like arthur.

Selks · 20/05/2011 12:03

Dawson...ugly name imo. Declan - like.

LetThereBeRock · 20/05/2011 14:55

As a middle name yes,it's a strong middle name, but definitely not as a first name.

MelinaM · 20/05/2011 15:51

Middle name for me tooSmile

lljkk · 20/05/2011 16:56
