Would they not get called Hold 'em?? In the playground

wheniwishuponastar · 18/05/2011 20:53

I don't really know what that means! Is it referring to bollocks?

Or boobs!!

AJH2007 · 18/05/2011 20:58

Holden McGroin was the Friends example...

wheniwishuponastar · 18/05/2011 20:59

Nope that hasn't put me off!

I love that name!

It makes me think of Catcher In The Rye.

I wanted it for ds but unfortunately it sounded odd with our surname.

Cattleprod · 18/05/2011 21:11

Amanda?

iEmbarassedMyself · 18/05/2011 21:12

Amanda?

RainbowShite · 18/05/2011 21:15

No way!

wheniwishuponastar · 18/05/2011 21:17

Lady - yes exactly! What did your partner think of it? I haven't told my dh yet.

It's also the name of a character I love on an American programme.

BikeRunSki · 18/05/2011 21:18

Love it, but love Catcher in the Rye too. Didn't even think of Amanda.

wheniwishuponastar · 18/05/2011 21:21

He's a bit of an angsty character though (catcher) so not sure I'd want my ds to overly identify with him. I just like the name.

Amanda Holden.

I don't like surnames as first names.

usualsuspect · 18/05/2011 21:36

I've never heard it before

I don't like it much though

52Girls · 18/05/2011 21:39

Sounds v American.

I really dislike it.

exexpat · 18/05/2011 21:42

Well, if you called a child that, at least you could be sure he'd never emigrate to Australia - it is a brand of car there: their version of Vauxhall.

wheniwishuponastar · 18/05/2011 21:47

Nope still not put off!

BendyBob · 18/05/2011 21:48

I quite like it. Uncommon but not weird. I do think of Catcher in the Rye too. A good adult name; some names are too cutesy and only suit children.

wheniwishuponastar · 18/05/2011 21:51

Yes my thoughts exactly bob thanks!

BendyBob · 18/05/2011 21:54

I sure thinking back through the mists of time that it was actually on my list of names for ds when he was born. I also quite liked Brooks which I always thought was along the same lines even though it's totally different Confused

cece · 18/05/2011 21:55

Awful. Sorry!

BatFlattery · 18/05/2011 22:05

Sorry, that is an awful name. Quite apart from the whole Holden McGroin fiasco, it is also a make of car, as I think someone else has also pointed out. What will it get shortened to?!

wheniwishuponastar · 19/05/2011 10:28

Haven't heard of Brooks before.
