Knew a gorgeous little girl called this once (full name Katherine), pronounced Kasha. What do we think?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Kasia is a polish name, diminutive of Katarzyna, and variant of Catherine.

I love the pro-nounciation, but not the spellingSmile

Kasha perhaps?

RitaMorgan · 10/05/2011 22:30

I love it too, prefer Kasia to Kasha though.

pinkwineandsensations · 10/05/2011 22:31

Is Kasha a 'proper' spelling as well..? I'm just interested..

Don't think so.

We've got a Kezia which is great, they called her Kazia in hospital which made me laugh as it reminded me of Kazi which made me think of campsite loos....

MercurySoccer · 10/05/2011 22:46

I think of "cash a cheque", but if cheques become obsolete that won't apply...

I love the name Cassia (pronounced Cass-ee-uh rather than Casha).

pinkwineandsensations · 10/05/2011 22:58

I think I prefer Cassius for a boy.. Cassia for a girl makes me think Cassie, which was my friend's dog..

I knew a little girl named this when I was a teenager and vowed to use it if i had a dd, I do now have a dd and didnt use it....I had totally forgotten about it until you posted

I still like it, spelt Kasia

winnybella · 10/05/2011 23:12

Yep, Kasia is a diminituve of Katarzyna. Kasha, otoh, in Polish means 'grains' like pearl barley etc.

winnybella · 10/05/2011 23:12

or diminutive even

pinkgirlythoughts · 11/05/2011 10:25

I teach a Katarzyna, nicknamed Kasia, and I think it's lovely :)
She does get called Kesha quite a bit by other children, though (thanks, Ke$ha!), and Tasha by visiting adults, such as supply teachers.

hilltop666 · 11/05/2011 20:11

I've been looking at Cassia- its pn cash-a too, i like the pn cash-a but don't like girls names starting with a K for some reason, so how about spelling it Cassia??

I thought it was a greek word for spiced cinamon or something though.

RamblingRosa · 11/05/2011 20:13

I really like it. I knew a Kasia and I always thought it was a lovely name. Very pretty.

I like it too. Seem to be surrounded by it now! Have a friend called Kasia - only met her in last year - hadn't heard it before. Just finished a book with a character called it and picked up another book today with a character of same name and now I see this thread! Weird!
