It's terribly common just about everywhere now, it's an okay name, but unfortunately for me it screams 'chav'! Plus you get those awful nn's Jaz and Jazzie!!!

I think Yasmin / Yasmine is softer sounding and also less commonly used. :)

Thanks all. I like it a lot, and for a change DH likes it too. I had wondered about the 'chav' thing (whatever it may be!), but surely if Jasmine is not a chav, people wouldn't think of it in that way?? To me it's very pretty, and I only know one, who is from a lovely family... What do you think of Thea as a middle name?

Yasmin is a contraceptive pill though.

I think Jasmine is beautiful, its not 'chavvy' maybe if its spelt something like Jazzmyn but not Jasmine

I dislike it. I don't find it elegant. Particularly dislike Jas/Jaz/Jazzie.

I like it. Pretty and feminine.

I'm not keen. Beautiful flower, but not nice as a name. There are much prettier flower names out there. (Dahlia, Primrose, Iris, to name a few)

But I don't think its 'chavvy' I know a few, and they are all from very well to do families.

I love it. There's no need to shorten it, I teach a couple of Jasmine's and all their friends call them by their full name.

Its very chavvy round here, but its a nice enough name. If you like it go for it.

Very very popular around here. Doesn't do anything for me, though I think Jazz is a nice NN. I like a lot of other names better (and worse).
