What do you think of Felicity as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

Also it translates so well in French and Spanish that I often get comments on when holiday on what a nice name it is. I honestly don't know anyone else who gets so many comments on how nice their name is (bar other Felicity's of course!).

Our 2 yr old is Felicity Faith and is usually called Flissy, although my dad calls her Filly-must be a generational thing.

Tolalola · 04/05/2011 22:15

I quite like it but have the impression that it's getting really common, which puts me off a bit.

weakhorse · 05/05/2011 08:04

Too when you use the word common do you mean popular or c*y

if popular what exactly makes you think that . my understanding is that in 2009 there were only about 240 in england and wales so not too frequently used . i know none where i live

also alot of the less popular names seem to be moving up the ranks . so i'm not going to avoid a name just because it may become popular in future . short of gazing in a crystal ball there is no way of predicting a names progress.

it's a normal name, but I personally hate it. I think there is no obvious nick name, it is a bit too close to felatio for comfort and the sssssss sound in the middle is a bit hissy.

I like the style of it though if that makes sense. Verity is lovely, much softer.

mrsdaz · 05/05/2011 10:08

Love it..its on our shortlist but will prob be a middle name as we have so many we like

dexifehatz · 07/05/2011 00:19

Valium-so weird that you prefer Verity as that was the name that we were going to go with, but when I told MiL she went quiet and told me that she had a stillborn little girl who they called Verity,my husband didn't know.

emmanumber3 · 07/05/2011 12:37

I dislike it intensely. Mainly because I can't stand the nicknames "Fliss" or "Flick". Very pretentious.

MercurySoccer · 07/05/2011 12:38

Agree emmanumber3, I dislike "Fliss" and "Flick" too.

robincousins · 07/05/2011 13:10

not overly keen on felicity

but fliss is quite sweet don't see it as pretentious at all

I think it's really pretty.

I quite like Flick and Fliss too.

Though the Felicity in my class is known as Fizzy which I think is adorable while she's a child but not sure I'd want to be stuck with that as a teen or adult!
