Our Final Choices (I think!)

DH and I have shortlisted our favourite names for our FB to:-

George Hugo CheshireDing and Poppy Arabella CheshireDing

We have TRIED to think of unusual/not common names but DH would not let me have River (for a boy) so not the crazy unusual.

Have we made the right decision is the question?

I like them.

bt1978 · 27/04/2011 20:45

Like your boy's names. Would personally swap round your girl choices to Arabella Poppy.
(I love the name River too! My DH has also vetoed)

pilates · 27/04/2011 20:54

Yes nice names but agree with bt1978 about swapping to Arabella Poppy.

Kentwood · 27/04/2011 21:01

Definitely prefer Arabella to poppy but both re nice names. I just think Arabella is a little bit more classy and unusual and is both sweet for a child and sophisticated when she's older. Love your boys names.

MayBankHoliday · 27/04/2011 21:34

Nice choices :)

I don't agree with the others - I think Poppy Arabella sounds great.

Personally not a fan of Hugo but it works well as part of the full name you've opted for.

sunshinescarlett · 27/04/2011 23:39

Lovely names Smile - I think you are sorted.

meditrina · 27/04/2011 23:59

I think they're both great!

But - just checking - the girl variant doesn't spell anything with your RL surname does it?

HopingForAZoo · 28/04/2011 02:15

Arabella Poppy sounds much more sophisticated imo.

Secretwishescometrue · 28/04/2011 10:11

another liker but swapper here Arabella Poppy lovely :) love River! Pity dh wouldnt sway but George is nice but not too unusual though?

mathanxiety · 28/04/2011 16:07

I much prefer Hugo George and Arabella Poppy.

darleneconnor · 28/04/2011 16:51

Hugo and Arabella are much better than George and Poppy.

babylann · 28/04/2011 16:54

I like George Hugo, not the biggest fan of Poppy Arabella, but agree it'd be much nicer as Arabella Poppy.

MayBankHoliday · 28/04/2011 16:59

Poppy and George are nice friendly names IMO.

Hugo and Arabella are both perfectly good names but are posher (some might say a little pretentious).

So it just depends what impression you'd like the first names to give.

ConstanceFelicity · 28/04/2011 17:14

I love the boys' names, love Poppy too. Not keen on Arabella- It's a bit trying-to-be-posh to my ears (but then I am a funny bugger).

missmiss · 28/04/2011 17:18

I agree with the swappers: Arabella is much nicer (and more sophisticated on an adult) than Poppy. Love both George and Hugo!

CheshireDing · 28/04/2011 17:34

OOh thank you lovely to get peoples opinions as DH says I cannot tell anyone we know :(

meditrina I did think about the initials thing too and we are okay on that front either way. You do have to think about these things though don't you - I don't reckon it even crossed our Parents minds in the old days :)
