middle name Joni

Hi we are expecting a girl and our list of first names is Erin (top), Esme or Iris. The second name will be Vanessa after my late mum and then I want to put Joni after the song writer/singer Joni Mitchell. I LOVE her music and it has deep connections for me, my mum played her to me as a kid and she was played at my mums funeral. Plus i think its funky and unusual. DH not impressed. What do you reckon?

ps, my own middle name was after a film my mum loved (Dr Chivago - Lara. My real father said that my mum was like his Lara, a woman he would always love but could never have ((he was married) and I really like the meaning behind it.

why not ? All 3 of mine have 3 names each and they're never used. However, we know they're there and the girls like having them. They all love the fact that there is a reason for their name choices too.

I know my friends are going to roll their eyes but I don't care, she's my daughter and Joni is funky!

I think it's a lovely idea and a really good way of honouring your mum and making her part of your daughter's life.

I love that idea. In fact in my family we have a tradition that every middle name begins with a J (no idea how this came about) so I gave DD 2 middle names in order to continue this. Her J name is Jane which is a very popular one in my family, but if this pg turns out to be another girl her J middle name will be Joni.
Anyway of honouring the great Joni Mitchell is alright in my book! A Case of You is my all time favourite song ever.

In the film, The Kids Are Alright, that was the kid's name, also as homage to Joni. What about Joni Vanessa. Think that sounds great.

I like Joni Vanessa too.
