Me and DH love all the above with the exception of Beth which DH isn't truly sold on..... yet Wink.

Just wondered what your opinions are...

isla

I agree with your husband.

All lovely but not keen on Beth.

megbess · 23/04/2011 19:59

love Katherine and Isla

Kentwood · 23/04/2011 20:10

does anyone think that Isla might be shortened to the rather unattractive 'Eye' Not sure how I feel about a name with no obvious shortening as she might be know as something awful that we hadn't thought of!

Love Isla and Amy. I doubt Isla would be shortened. I know someone who spells it Ysla.

Beth is surely always short for Elizabeth?

Bet Katherine, Kate and Catherine fly up the baby names tables this year mind you!

AprilRose · 23/04/2011 20:50

Beth gets my top vote, then Amy, then Katherine (lower simply because of the roal connection) and Isla last (just because it makes me think of Isla Fisher, who I find incredibly annoying)

MrsJohnDeere · 23/04/2011 21:04

Like all except Beth.

Love Katherine/Kate but it may be very popular this year.

mathanxiety · 23/04/2011 21:09

Isla or Katherine.

I don't like Amy or Beth. Too Little Womenish.

ChocolateEggyrolls · 23/04/2011 21:11

I too love Isla and Katherine - but got to be Katherine with a K [buwink]

highlystrung · 23/04/2011 21:28

Beth

WishIWasRimaHorton · 23/04/2011 21:29

all of them. they are all lovely!

not very helpful though. unless you want a DD with 4 names!

mathanxiety · 23/04/2011 21:29

YYY, Katherine has to have a K. And Kathryn is lovely too.

Emelene · 23/04/2011 22:21

All gorgeous. My favourite is Beth, but I think you have nice taste in names. :)

pourmeanotherglass · 23/04/2011 22:23

I've got an Amy. She's lovely. Still happy we chose that name (she's nearly 9 now).

exoticfruits · 23/04/2011 22:33

Katherine.
If Beth I think you should have Elizabeth to give her more options.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 23/04/2011 22:36

Beth or Amy

I don't like Isla and the ones I do know both get shortened to I or Ils.

Katherine - really? Do you want her to be one of 20 in the class??? Just no.

severalyearsdowntheline · 23/04/2011 22:41

Love Beth and wouldn't use Elizabeth, no need to have a long version of a name if you prefer the short version and Beth is far nicer than Elizabeth. DS1 was going to be Libby if he were a girl and it never entered our minds that we should have named him Elizabeth "to give more choice".

Also love Amy but it's a bit overused, there are 5 in DS's year at school and Isla is pretty but Katherine is just a little dull IMO.

MelinaM · 23/04/2011 23:35

Love the name Isla, but unfortunately it's become terribly common popular of late! Amy is a bit blah, but Katherine is a classic name with a multitude of nn's, and Beth is lovely too, I'd go with Elizabeth with Beth for short thoughSmile

Kentwood · 24/04/2011 10:33

Thanks everyone.

Definitely wouldn't be using Elizabeth for full name because I just don't like the sound of it. Also I can't stand Lizzie or Liz. I would use Bethan on the birth certificate if we decide to go with Beth but like I said DH still needs some gentle persuasion on that one!

I love Isla (it's my favourite of all 4 names) but is it really that common?? I have NEVER ever met one and it was only at number 32 in to 100 baby names in the UK. DS is called Joseph which is about number 14 so popularity doesn't really worry me too much. If I like the sound of a name, I think it's silly not to use it because someone else might do. My friend has a little boy called Jack which is or has been the most popular name for over 10 years but he's the only one I know!

Anyone else got any opinions?

Beth

Idreamofsunshine · 24/04/2011 11:24

Isla.

goodegg · 24/04/2011 11:50

I prefer Bethany to Bethan.

purepurple · 24/04/2011 11:53

Isla. I work in a nursery and know 1 Isla, aged 1.

noddyholder · 24/04/2011 11:54
