Phineas

We had agreed on Finn as a name for DS but I would quite like him to have an unusual given name and I've fallen in love with Phineas.

Is it too weird? He will, however be known as Finn so will have a 'normal' day-to-day name.

It's a nice name, but might risk the nn "Foggie".

MelinaM · 20/04/2011 23:15

Not too weird at all, Phineas is a lovely nameSmile

Grabaspoon · 20/04/2011 23:21

Phineas and Ferb spring to mind!

...and Ferb

But it is a really nice name. And if he did think he was named after the cartoon character then it is a very cool cartoon for his peers!

HopingForAZoo · 21/04/2011 04:33

I love it!!

LetThereBeRock · 21/04/2011 10:54

Phineas is horrid, imho.I don't like any of the 101 variations on Finn, but there are nicer ones out there.

tammytoby · 21/04/2011 12:39

Phineas is ok but he will inevitably end up as another of the thousand little Finns out there already - a bit dull to be honest.

BikeRunSki · 21/04/2011 12:40

Finninan might be less bonkers, but still unusual?

stroid · 21/04/2011 12:41

Finn is our chosen name, and we love it. Not in the slightest bit bothered if some people find it dull :)

I dislike Phineas and agree that Finn is quite overused these days.

meadowlarks · 21/04/2011 13:06

I love Phineas, toyed with it for a while, but I don't like Finn.

stroid · 21/04/2011 13:09

I can't see how you can like/love Phineas but dislike Finn. Is it the popularity of Finn you don't like, or the sound?

My first thought before I realised it was in the baby names topic was 'Phineas and Ferb' too.

Great cartoon though, not keen on the name but it's not my baby who'll be screaming 'Why did you give me such a weird name mom?!' through a door at me in 15 years so do what you like Grin

rachel234 · 21/04/2011 13:31

Wouldn't Phineas end up as Phin, like Philip/Phil? It might get confusing for your ds if his name is Phineas but his nickname spelt Fin rather than Phin. Personally I'm not keen on any Fin names - there are so many variations of it around.

EggsOnLegs · 21/04/2011 13:32

Love it, if you like it go for it!

rachel234 · 21/04/2011 15:33

I like Phineas but I'm not keen on Fin or Phin.
