I quite like it. Definitely prefer it to Ralph/Rafe. Can't think of any Ranulphs apart from R. Fiennes though, I guess people will often say "as in Fiennes?"

Thanks for comments so far - I like Ralph/rafe but can't get over the judy Blume associations and the spelling vs pronunciation issues. So this may be an alternative for us....

Interesting comment. Didn't think it was if the old man chic genre like alfred and Wilfred - just thought it was unusual. Was it very prolific 65 years but then died out like Stanley, ethel, Mabel etc?
