Her only comment so far on a name we like for the baby is 'it makes me think of a girl with long straight pubes'

Oh please please, please tell us 'the name'!!!

TeddyMcardle · 17/04/2011 20:40

Shock you have to tell us the name though!

meditrina · 17/04/2011 20:41

Trouble is, if she tells, she risks a hideous reaction from all the holders of or mothers to "Pubella" in MN.

Unless it was Rapunzel?

MelinaM · 17/04/2011 23:40
Grin
MollysChambers · 17/04/2011 23:46

Long straight pubes??

How very seventies Grin

greenzebra · 18/04/2011 08:58

this is one of the reasons we choose not to tell anyone our names till the baby is born, if you introduce them to the family with the name then they cant say anything beacsue the baby is here and it has a name.

Only problem with this is dear DH told his parents the first initial of the boy name and girl name we have choosen. She then managed to pick the right girls name and ridiculed it and made fun of it. She still doestn know its the name but it hurt me a bit, DH thinks its funny that when the baby is born if its a girl MIL will have to make out she likes the name. I will just think from now on that she hates the name! DH is stupid!!!

MmeSurvivedLent · 18/04/2011 08:59

The name is Philippa
Hasnt put us off it! (I am well used to my Mums comments and suspect there will be many more Grin )

Does it sound like a pubey name to you?

ConstanceFelicity · 19/04/2011 08:31

I love your mother! And I shall never look at a Phillipa the same way again. :o

cookingbaby2 · 19/04/2011 09:03

Racking my brain to think of pubey sounding names! Ha! Phillipa is not one of them :) Love Pip as a nn.

My ma is also rather loopy. When I was pregnant with DD she said that the name Georgina reminded her of a plaited haired, dungaree wearing lesbian. The mind boggles. MIL also was against the name as FIL had an ex girlfriend called Georgina WHEN HE WAS 13! Moral of the story - do not share names with friends and family until bubs is born as they think it gives them free reign to slag them off.

MelinaM · 19/04/2011 10:49

Nor shall I Constance!

Prinpo · 19/04/2011 14:47

Philippa is a great name. Stick with it and let her squirm Grin.

womma · 19/04/2011 20:22

I bet, when she's holding a lovely little baby, she won't be thinking about pubes. Unless she's really barking mad, in which case I offer my sincere condolences Smile

And Philippa is a lovely name, good choice!
